Phialophora asteris is an ascomycete fungus that is a plant pathogen infecting sunflowers.
Same, also Samos (Σάμος) is an Ancient Greek name of a Homeric island in the Ionian Sea, near Ithaca and Cephalonia. In Homer's Odyssey Same is described as part of Odysseus's kingdom together with Ithaca, Dulichium, and Zacynthus. The Iliad, book II, in the Catalogue of Ships, contains a different list of islands comprising Odysseus's kingdom. Same is included together with Ithaca, Neritum, Krocylea, Aegilips and Zacynthus, indicating that the "Catalogue of Ships" could be a later addition to the Iliad.
Maria-Anastasia "Marianna" Efstratiou is a Greek singer, connected on several occasions with the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1987 she appeared as a backing singer for the duo Bang. Efstratiou won the Greek national song contest in 1989, overcoming Greek superstar Anna Vissi, and represented Greece in Lausanne with To Diko Sou Asteri. The song was placed ninth. In 1996, ERT selected her to represent Greece again, this time with the song Emis forame to himona anixiatika, but the song could only manage 14th place in Oslo. Efstratiou sang three songs in the semi-finals of the Greek national contest in 1998, but none of them qualified for the final. She has worked with Mimis Plessas and she also appeared on stage on several occasions. She has published two records and a promo CD single. Her debut album features her cover of Twist in My Sobriety, originally sung by Tanita Tikaram. She has also participated in the theatrical play Pornographia by Manos Hatzidakis. Currently, she is the lead singer of the jazz ensemble Nova Mood.

It is a rare etiological agent of chromoblastomycosis, with low rates of correspondence observed from reports. The main active components of F. compacta are glycolipids, yet very little is known about its composition. F. compacta is widely regarded as a dysplastic variety of Fonsecaea pedrosoi, its morphological precursor. The genus Fonsecaea presently contains two species, F. pedrosoi and F. compacta. Over 100 strains of F. pedrosoi have been isolated but only two of F. compacta.
Phialophora verrucosa is a pathogenic, dematiaceous fungus that is a common cause of chromoblastomycosis. It has also been reported to cause subcutaneous phaeohyphomycosis and mycetoma in very rare cases. In the natural environment, it can be found in rotting wood, soil, wasp nests, and plant debris. P. verrucosa is sometimes referred to as Phialophora americana, a closely related environmental species which, along with P. verrucosa, is also categorized in the P. carrionii clade.

Phialophora fastigiata is a mitosporic, saprophytic fungus commonly found in soil, and on wood, and wood-pulp. This species was initially placed in the genus Cadophora but was later transferred to the genus Phialophora based on morphological and growth characteristics. In culture, P. fastigiata produces olive-brown, velvety colonies. The fungus is recognizable microscopically due to the presence of distinctive, funnel-shaped cuffs (collarettes) encircling the tips of phialides that bear slimy conidia. The fungus is often implicated in soft-rot wood decay due to its ability to degrade lignin, cellulose and pectin. It has also been reported to cause blue staining of wood and wood pulp.
Rhopalophora is a genus of lichen-like fungus in the family Dactylosporaceae. It contains the sole species R. clavispora, previously belonging to the genus Phialophora but redescribed in 2016 to compose this monotypic genus.
