The Philippine Weightlifting Association is the national governing body for weightlifting and powerlifting in the Philippines. The president of the PWA since October 2016 is Monico Puentevella. [1]

Olympic-style weightlifting, or Olympic weightlifting, often simply referred to as weightlifting, is an athletic discipline in the modern Olympic program in which the athlete attempts a maximum-weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates.

Powerlifting strength sport

Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. As in the sport of Olympic weightlifting, it involves the athlete attempting a maximal weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates. Powerlifting evolved from a sport known as "odd lifts", which followed the same three-attempt format but used a wider variety of events, akin to strongman competition. Eventually odd lifts became standardized to the current three.

Monico O. Puentevella is a Filipino politician. Formerly a member of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, he was elected to three terms as a member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, representing the Legislative district of Bacolod City. He was first elected to Congress in 2001, and was re-elected in 2004 and 2007. He was also the mayor of Bacolod from 2013-2016. He finished both his elementary and secondary education at the De La Salle Bacolod in 1962 and 1965, respectively. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree from De La Salle University Manila in 1960. He furtherly pursued Professional Management Development Program study at the Asian Institute of Management in 1994.

The Central Visayas Regional Football Association is a Filipino football association. It works under the Philippine Football Federation as a regional football association for the provinces of Bohol and Cebu. It was formed in 2016 when Cebu FA absorbed Bohol FA to form the regional football association.

Batang Pinoy

The Philippine Youth Games – Batang Pinoy or simply Batang Pinoy is the national youth sports competition of the Philippines for athletes under 15 years old. Unlike the Palarong Pambansa a competition for student athletes, the Batang Pinoy also includes the out-of-school youth.

Negros Island Region former region of the Philippines

The Negros Island Region, also abbreviated and officially designated as NIR, was an administrative region in the Philippines which comprised the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental, both of which are part of the island of Negros. It existed from May 29, 2015 to August 9, 2017, and was then the 18th region of the Philippines. Local officials and the Consultative Committee to Review the 1987 Constitution (ConCom) have proposed to reinstate NIR as a region under a federal form of government.

The 2017 Philippines Football League was the inaugural season of the Philippines Football League (PFL), the professional football league of the Philippines. The league was officially launched on 21 April 2017 at the Shangri-La at the Fort in Taguig while the first match of the season was played on 6 May 2017. The league replaced the United Football League which had its last season in 2016.
