The Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area of the Cardamom Mountains in western Cambodia, adjacent to the international border with Thailand. Located on the western part of the range, it contains mountainous terrain dominated by three discrete peaks: Cambodia's second highest peak, Phnom Samkos (1,717 m), Phnom Khmaoch (1,496 m) and Phnom Tumpor (1,250 m). The area includes an Important Bird Area. [2]

Periyar National Park national park

Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (PNP) is a protected area near Thekkady in the districts of Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta in Kerala, India. It is notable as an elephant reserve and a tiger reserve. The protected area covers an area of 925 km2 (357 sq mi). 305 km2 (118 sq mi) of the core zone was declared as the Periyar National Park in 1982. The park is a repository of rare, endemic and endangered flora and fauna and forms the major watershed of two important rivers of Kerala, the Periyar and the Pamba.

Phnom Nam Lyr Wildlife Sanctuary

Phnom Nam Lyr Wildlife Sanctuary is a 509.57 km2 (196.75 sq mi) large protected area in Cambodia, located in Mondulkiri Province at an altitude of 1,300 m (4,300 ft). It is threatened by illegal logging.

Kirirom National Park

Kirirom National Park and officially recognized as Preah Suramarit-Kossamak Kirirom National Park is a national park in Cambodia. It is located mostly in Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province, while a smaller section is in neighboring Koh Kong Province.

The Samkos bush frog, Chiromantis samkosensis, is a moss frog found in Cambodia in the Cardamom Mountains. It was first described in 2007.

Ang Trapaing Thmor protected area of Cambodia

Ang Trapaing Thmor is a 129.06 km2 (49.83 sq mi) protected forest in northwestern Cambodia that was established in 1999. The reserve was set aside to protect the rare eastern sarus crane. Prior to the discovery of the crane at Trapaing Thmor, there were thought to be fewer than 1,000 of the birds left alive in the world.

Phnom Aural Wildlife Sanctuary

Phnom Aural Wildlife Sanctuary is a 2,544.85 km2 (982.57 sq mi) large protected area in central Cambodia that was established in 1993. It is named after Phnom Aural, the country's tallest peak. The protected forest of the Central Cardamom Mountains lies to its west.

Preah Monivong National Park

Preah Monivong Bokor National Park is a national park in southern Cambodia's Kampot Province that was established in 1993 and covers 1,423.17 km2 (549.49 sq mi). It is designated as an ASEAN Heritage Park. It is located in the Dâmrei Mountains, forming the southeastern parts of the Cardamom Mountains. Most of the park is about 1,000 metres above sealevel and the highest peak is Phnom Bokor at 1,081 metres, also referred to as Bokor Mountain.

Mondulkiri Protected Forest protected forest in Cambodia

Mondulkiri Protected Forest is a 3,720.54 km2 (1,436.51 sq mi) large protected forest in eastern Cambodia that was established in 1999. It borders Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary in the northwest, Nsok Protected Forest in the north, Phnom Prich Wildlife Sanctuary in the southwest and Phnom Nam Lyr Wildlife Sanctuary in the southeast. It was renamed Srepok Wildlife Sanctuary in 2016.

Phnom Prich Wildlife Sanctuary is a 2,218.18 km2 (856.44 sq mi) large protected area in eastern Cambodia that was established in 1993. It is part of maybe the largest protected area complex in southeast Asia. Phnom Prich Wildlife Sanctuary borders Mondulkiri Protected Forest to the north.

Phnom Samkos

Phnom Samkos is the second-highest peak in Cambodia, located in the western Cardamom Mountains at 1,717 metres (5,633 ft) above sea level. It is situated within the Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary, which takes its name from the mountain, and the Central Cardamom Protected Forest. The elevation and surrounding forest basin support a large variety of rare flora and fauna.
