Police Staff College, the apex training institution for the senior Police officers of Bangladesh Police, was established in 2000 and becomes a statutory organization under Police Staff College Act, 2002. The college is a centre for research studies on police subjects and shares ideas and experiences with similar institutions in and outside the country.
The College stands on 19 acres (77,000 m2) of land in the capital city Dhaka of Bangladesh at Mirpur Section-14 overlooking the residential areas of the Police Complex and the Public Order Management (POM) Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
In late 1980s, the Police Commission (1977) recommended the establishment of a Staff College for professional training of senior police officers. After a decade, another Police Commission Report of 1988-89 underscored the importance of a liberal education for senior Police officers. In pursuance of those reports a formal proposal was sent to the government in 1994 and approval of the government came on 14 December 1998. [1]
Civil servants, academics and professionals from various fields come to share their thoughts, experiences and ideas with the participants.
The college has a library with books, journals, periodicals and research reports for the benefit of participants, researchers and directing staffs of the college.

A Rector of the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police heads the college. Two Directors equivalent to the rank of Superintendent of Police, three Additional Superintendent of Police, one Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police and one Assistant Superintendent of Police assist him. A Board of Governors headed by the Honorable Home Minister guides the College management.

The Special Branch or SB is the prime intelligence agency of Bangladesh Police, being an important agency in the Bangladeshi intelligence community. Monirul Islam, bpm (bar), ppm (bar) Additional Inspector General of Bangladesh Police, is the current head of Special Branch.
The Thiruvananthapuram City Police is the police force of the city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. It has the primary responsibilities of law enforcement and investigation within the limits of Thiruvananthapuram. It is headed by the Police Commissioner of Thiruvananthapuram, who is generally an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer holding the IG rank. There is currently 24 police stations in the city. The Uttarakhand Police is the law enforcement agency for the state of Uttarakhand in India and it was formed in 2000.
The Special Security and Protection Battalion (SPBN) is a specialized unit of the Bangladesh Police. The battalion provides protection to the President of Bangladesh, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and any person designated as VIP by the Government including visiting foreign dignitaries. It is also responsible for the security of VIPs’ offices and residences and venues of programs. It works alongside Special Security Force, Special Branch, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and President Guard Regiment.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is a specialized unit of the Bangladesh Police that performs a criminal investigation and digital forensic service by the order of honorable court, police headquarters and the request of other police units. They investigate homicides, crime against property, sexual assaults, arson, cyber crime, and other crimes. Additional Inspector General Banaj Kumar Majumder BPM(Bar), PPM is the chief of the PBI.
Provincial Police Service, often abbreviated to as PPS, is the Group A state civil service for policing of Uttar Pradesh Police. It is also the feeder service for Indian Police Service in the state.
