Prehistoricisms is the second studio album by American progressive metal band Intronaut. It was released on September 16, 2008 by Century Media Records, to positive reviews. It is the first album to feature guitarist Dave Timnick, as the band moves towards a jazzier, more progressive sound.

Gorguts is a Canadian death metal band formed near Sherbrooke, Quebec, in 1989. The band has gone through various lineup changes since its inception; its only constant member has been guitarist, vocalist, and co-founding member Luc Lemay, who remains the creative force of the band. To date, they have released five full-length albums and one EP. Their most recent release is the EP Pleiades' Dust, released on May 13, 2016. Their latest full-length album Colored Sands was released in 2013 and was nominated for a Juno Award. Damnation is the seventh studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. It was released on 22 April 2003, five months after Deliverance, which was recorded at the same time. Damnation is the last Opeth album to date to be produced by Steven Wilson although he did mix two future albums, Heritage and Pale Communion. Mikael Åkerfeldt dedicated both albums to his grandmother, who died in a car accident during the time the albums were being recorded.

Fuck the Facts is a Canadian Juno-nominated, grindcore band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, formed in 1998. They began as the solo recording project of musician Topon Das. Their earliest recording was in January 1997; they began using the name Fuck the Facts in 1998. After many early recordings, including split tapes with groups from around the world, Fuck the Facts began developing a name in the underground with fans of grind. In 2001, the first full-length CD-R, Discoing the Dead, was recorded. The same year, Das would assemble a full band to continue with the project. The band has since coined the terms "bastardized grindcore" and "mullet-core" to describe their sound.

Deafheaven is an American post-metal band formed in 2010. Originally based in San Francisco, the group began as a two-piece with singer George Clarke and guitarist Kerry McCoy, who recorded and self-released a demo album together. Before the end of 2010, the band signed to Deathwish Inc. and later released their debut album Roads to Judah, in April 2011.
