Toledo is a city in and the county seat of Lucas County, Ohio, United States. At the 2020 census, it had a population of 270,871, making Toledo the fourth-most populous city in the state of Ohio, after Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Toledo is the 79th-largest city in the United States. It is the principal city of the Toledo metropolitan area, which had 606,240 residents in 2020. Toledo also serves as a major trade center for the Midwest; its port is the fifth-busiest on the Great Lakes.

The Greater Buckeye Conference was a high school athletic conference with six members, all located in a large area of northern and northwest Ohio. It was affiliated with the Ohio High School Athletic Association. The conference was created for the 2003-2004 school year after the Great Lakes League folded, and lasted until the end of the 2010-11 school year.

ProMedica Senior Care, formerly HCR ManorCare Inc, is a major provider in the United States of both short-term post-acute and long-term care. As of 2020, it had more than 300 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities hospice and home health care offices, and over 45,000 employees. The company is headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. In July 2007, it agreed to a $4.9 billion buyout offer from the private equity firm Carlyle Group. In 2018, HCR ManorCare filed for bankruptcy protection and agreed to be taken over by its landlord, Quality Care Properties and in April 2018, Quality Care Properties was acquired by a joint venture between Welltower and ProMedica. In November 2022, ProMedica announced it would end its joint venture with Welltower and would cede its 15% ownership of ProMedica Senior Care. Welltower announced a partnership with Integra Health shortly after which will take over control of all but 10 skilled nursing facilities from ProMedica. ProMedica will continue to operate the assisted living facilities gained under the original agreement.

The Three Rivers Athletic Conference was an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) high school athletic conference that began athletic competition in 2011 and lasted until 2023 with 10 high schools from Northwest Ohio, seven of which were from the Toledo metropolitan area, and one each from the cities of Findlay, Fremont and Lima. Ken Myers, former director of public safety and public services in Fremont, was the league's inaugural commissioner. The three rivers from which the conference derived its name are the Maumee, Sandusky, and Blanchard.
McLaren St. Luke's Hospital was a non-profit hospital in Maumee, Ohio, operated by McLaren Health Care Corporation. McLaren announced it expected St. Luke's to wind down operations by mid-May, 2023 with assets being purchased by Mercy Health. The hospital officially closed on Monday, May 8, 2023. As of 4:00 PM local time on the day of closure, the McLaren St. Luke's website redirected to Mercy Perrysburg Hospital's website.
