Qing Madi is the self-titled debut extended play by Nigerian singer-songwriter Qing Madi, released on November 17, 2023, by Jton Music. [1] The EP received generally favorable reviews from critics and peaked at number 14 on the Nigeria Apple Music chart. [2] Qing Madi spawned the hit song "Ole", which charted at number 12 on the TurnTable Top 100. [3]

Background and release

In 2022, Qing Madi released her breakout single "See Finish", which gained popularity primarily on TikTok. [4] [5] The song caught the attention of Bnxn, who collaborated with her on the song "Ole". [6] [7] [8] In 2023, Qing Madi was announced as Apple Music's Next Rated Artist in Nigeria. [9] [10] On August 3, 2023, she released the music video for "Ole", directed by Director Pink. [11] Later, on November 17, 2023, Qing Madi released her 7-track self-titled EP through Jton Music. [12]

Composition

The 7-track EP, produced by Jton Music, features a diverse range of songs. The first track, "Madi's Medley", is an Afrobeat song with melodic tunes that showcase Qing Madi's strength and resilience in protecting herself from enemies. The second track, "Ole", is a Contemporary song that features Madi and Bnxn exchanging messages of pride through the lyrics. The third track, "Vision", is an Afrobeats song where Madi sings about her future aspirations and vision. The fourth track, "American Love", is a Love song addressed to a love interest, affirming her love and embracing the world. The fifth track, "Chargie", is an Afropop song that highlights her struggles with fame and the efforts of enemies trying to bring her down. The sixth track, "Why", is a pop song that explores people's curiosity about her life and way of living. Finally, the last track, "See Finish", is a Nigeria R&B and Afropop song that addresses how people criticize her and her approach to staying clear of negativity and avoiding trouble. [13]

Samuel Idowu Oluwadarasimi, better known by his stage name Soundz, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and record producer signed to AfroNext Entertainment. He came into the music scene with an acclaimed extended play In The Rough, with the lead track "Attention" released in 2022. The song debuted at number 6 on TurnTable Afro-Pop Songs, and the extended play peaked at number 36 on TurnTable Top 50. In November 2022, he ranked number 80 on TurnTable Artiste Top 100.

Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, professionally known as Qing Madi, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and dancer. She gained widespread recognition after her 2022 single "See Finish" and its 2023 follow-up, "Ole", went viral on TikTok; the latter peaked at number one on the Uganda Top 100 Apple Music chart and number three on the Nigeria Top 100 Apple Music chart. Both songs were released as singles from Madi's debut extended play, Qing Madi (2023), which received critical acclaim.

Yusuf Oluwo Gbolaga professionally known as YKB is an Italian Afropop singer and songwriter. He debuted his first single titled “Swaggu” in 2019 and gained popularity with the hit single “San Siro”.
