Quiet Exit is the 2006 debut album of Norwegian singer-songwriter Elvira Nikolaisen. The album contains twelve songs written by Nikolaisen. The album sold over fifty thousand copies in 2006, [1] making it the 14th most sold album in Norway that year. [2]
The album was produced by Knut Schreiner, better known as Euroboy, lead guitarist of Turbonegro, and lead singer/guitarist of Euroboys, enlisting fellow Euroboys guitarist Trond Mjøen to accompany on electric/acoustic guitars, while Tom Rudi Torjussen of Jim Stärk plays drums/percussion. Ole Kristian Wetten plays bass. Nikolaisen's older brother, Emil Nikolaisen, of Serena Maneesh also contributed, by providing background vocals on three of the songs. [3] [4] All the lyrics and melodies were written by Nikolaisen.Recording took place in Athletic Sound Studio in Halden and finished in September 2005. [5]
Several reviewers commented positively on the album's production. One reviewer complimented Schreiner and the backing band for the "many exciting details in the soundscape, that reveals something new every time you listen to the songs". [6] Thorstein Krogedahl also received praise for his performance on background saxophone in the chorus of Egypt Song. [3]

The album's lead single, "Love I Can't Defend", released in late 2005, was a success, peaking at No. 3 on the Norwegian airplay chart, [1] making Quiet Exit one of the most anticipated albums of 2006. At the release concert, Nikolaisen said: "Quiet Exit is a result of many years of passionate work." [9] The album was released on 6 March 2006, the same day as another much anticipated debut album, Marit Larsen's Under the Surface . [10] An article in Verdens Gang written by Thomas Talseth described the simultaneous release as the peak of a "girl war", referring to the large number of Norwegian female artists making their record debuts in early 2006. [11] The article sparked some controversy. Several music journalists and artists criticized Talseth for his use of the term "girl war". [10] [12] [13] However, Talseth later defended his use of the term, calling it a "nice tabloid angle". [12]
The album was well received by critics. In his review for Verdens Gang , Talseth gave it 5 out of 6. Dagbladet's reviewer also gave it 5/6, calling the album "comfortable and beautiful music that deserves many listeners", characterizing Nikolaisen as a "female crooner". [7] Another reviewer praised Nikolaisen for her "soulful voice". [6] The album went straight to the No. 2 spot on the Norwegian album chart, only beaten by David Gilmour's On an Island, [14] and remained on the list for 34 consecutive weeks.
The album's second single, "Egypt Song", was also successful, capturing the top spot on the Norwegian airplay chart. [1] Per 29 June 2007, it was the second most played song on NRK P1, Norway's largest radio station. [15] The song spent 18 consecutive weeks on the Norwegian singles chart, peaking at No. 6. [16]
Nikolaisen received three Spelemann-nominations for the album: "Best Female Artist", "Newcomer of the Year", and "Hit of the Year" (for "Love I Can't Defend").

Caroline "Dina" Lillian Kongerud, is a Norwegian pop/trance artist. She released one album and seven singles in the early 2000s, several of which were hits. Her first single topped the Norwegian record chart and was later re-released in Swedish and English.
Marit Elisabeth Larsen is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She began playing violin at age of 5 and played it until the age of 8. She gained international fame during her teenage years as a member of the pop duo M2M with childhood friend Marion Raven. She then pursued her own music career, releasing her debut solo album Under the Surface in 2006. Her second album, The Chase, was released in Norway in October 2008. Her third album, titled Spark was released in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland on 18 November 2011, and in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on 16 December 2011. Her fourth studio album When the Morning Comes was released on 20 October 2014. Larsen toured in its support within Norway with her own concerts, played songs from the album in Germany and Switzerland at public festivals and was the opening act at two of Johannes Oerding's concerts in November 2015.
M2M were a Norwegian pop duo comprising Marit Larsen and Marion Raven. Larsen and Raven had been friends since the age of five, and formed a music duo when they were eight. They released a children's album in 1996 when Larsen was 12 and Raven was 11, under the name "Marit & Marion". The album was nominated for a Spellemannprisen award and the band changed their name to M2M after signing a record deal with Atlantic Records in 1998. M2M were frequently praised for writing most of their songs and performing their own instruments, something which was considered to set them aside from the majority of teen pop music artists.

Knut Schreiner, is a Norwegian singer, musician and producer currently residing in Oslo. Also known by his stage name Euroboy, he has been part of important Norwegian bands like Kåre and The Cavemen known in its last years as Euroboys, with Turbonegro known in Norway as Turboneger, in the musical project Black Diamond Brigade and recently is a member of Mirror Lakes. He has also been in other musical projects and produced other bands, notably Euroboys, Amulet and The Lovethugs.
Harald Olav Aabrekk is a Norwegian football coach and a former player. He played for Sogndal and Brann in the Tippeligaen, Norway's top professional football league. He has been head coach of Sogndal, Tromsø, Brann, Haugesund, Vålerenga and Aalesund, and has also served as an assistant coach for the Norway national football team.

Brother is the sixth studio album and fourth English-language album by Norwegian singer & A-Ha lead vocalist Morten Harket. It was released on 11 April 2014 through Universal Music. It was premiered the same day at the Norwegian award show, Spellemannprisen. The song was inspired by the Radical, the memoir of British Islamist-turned-Liberal activist Maajid Nawaz. It was featured as the Album of the Week on the Ken Bruce Show on BBC Radio 2 from 21 to 25 April 2014. The music video for the song "Brother" was directed by long time friend and Hollywood director Harald Zwart.
