Rahel Daniel Chebre [1] (born 16 November 2001) [2] is an Eritrean long-distance runner. She finished fifth in the 10,000 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships.
Daniel is a two-time World Cross Country Tour winner.
17-year-old Rahel Daniel finished tenth in the final of the 1500 metres race at the 2019 African Games. In February 2020, Rahel (Daniel is her fathr's name) finished second in the World Athletics Cross Country Permit series in Albufeira, Portugal behind Lydia Lagat and ahead of Salomé Rocha. [3]
She qualified for the 5000 metres at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics in June 2021, breaking a national record in running 14:55:56 at a qualifying tournament held in Hengelo, Netherlands. [4] At the Games, Rahel was eliminated in the heats with a time of 15:02.59. [2]
In January 2022, Rahel placed second at the Campaccio in Italy, and the following month, won the 45th edition of the Almond Blossom Cross Country in Portugal. [2] [5] As a result she moved into the lead in the 2021–22 World Cross Country Tour standings. [6] The 20-year-old finished in the top eight at both the World Indoor Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia and the World Championships in Eugene. Indoors, she placed eighth in the 3000 metres race in Serbia. In Eugene in July, she finished fifth in the 10,000 metres race. [2] [7]
She competed in the 10,000 metres at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in August 2024 but did not finish the race. [8]
Sonia O'Sullivan is an Irish former track and field athlete. She won a gold medal in the 5000 metres at the 1995 World Championships, and a silver medal in the 5000 metres at the 2000 Olympic Games. Her 2000 m world record of 5:25.36, set in 1994 stood until 2017.

She also finished ninth in the 10,000 metres final at the 1987 World Championships and competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She is the twin sister of fellow athlete Susan Tooby.

Hellen Onsando Obiri is a Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner. She is the only woman to have won world titles in indoor track, outdoor track and cross country. Obiri is a two-time Olympic 5,000 metres silver medallist from the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she also placed fourth over the 10,000 metres. She is a two-time world champion after winning the 5,000 m in 2017 and again in 2019, when she set a new championship record. Obiri also took world bronze for the 1,500 metres in 2013 and silver in the 10,000 m in 2022. Jacob Kiplimo is a Ugandan long-distance runner who is the current world record holder in the half marathon. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and the 2022 World Athletics Championships, Kiplimo won a bronze medal in the 10,000 m events. Kiplimo won gold medals in the 5000 m and 10,000 m events at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, and he won a silver and gold medal at the 2019 and 2023 World Cross Country Championships, respectively. He was also the winner of the 2020 World Half Marathon.
Yemaneberhan "Yeman" Crippa is an Ethiopian-born Italian long-distance runner. He won the gold medal in the 10,000 metres and bronze for the 5000 metres at the European Athletics Championships in 2022, and bronze in the 10,000 m in 2018. Crippa claimed four medals in the age-group races at the European Cross Country Championships and a bronze in the senior race in 2019.
Nadia Battocletti is an Italian female middle- and long-distance runner. She won the gold medal in the 5000 m and 10000 m races at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome. At the 2024 Summer Olympics, Battocletti won a silver medal in the 10,000 m and placed fourth in the 5000 m race.
