Rahi Jeevan Sarnobat (Marathi: राही सरनोबत, born 30 October 1990) is a female athlete from India who competes in the 25 metre pistol shooting event. She won her first gold medal at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune, India. [2] She is the first woman to win a gold medal in shooting at the Asian Games for India – she won the gold at the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games in the women's 25 metre pistol event. [3] She won two gold medals in 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, the first of the two golds in coming in the 25 metre pistol pair event with Anisa Sayyed. She had previously won gold in the 25 metre pistol event at the 2008 Youth Commonwealth Games, which were held in India. [4]
Sarnobat hails from Kolhapur in Maharashtra. During her school days, she was introduced to firearms as part of NCC[ definition needed ] training. She demonstrated natural skills in using firearms from an early age. In her early days of the sport, Sarnobat had to navigate inadequate infrastructure and facilities in her home town of Kolhapur. She then decided to train in Mumbai, which had better facilities. [5] Her inspiration is fellow Maharashtrian and 50m rifle pro World Champion Tejaswini Sawant. [3]
Sarnobat became India's first pistol shooter to win a gold medal in the World Cup when she won the 25 metre pistol event in the ISSF World Cup in Changwon. [6] [7] In the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, she won gold in the women's 25 metre pistol event. [8] In the same year, she won the bronze medal in the 25 metre pistol team event at the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon, where she teamed up with Anisa Sayyed and Heena Sidhu. [9] An injury caused by an accident in 2015 came as a setback for Sarnobat; it affected her elbow, which took almost two years to fully heal. [10] She made it back to the Indian national team and started working with German coach Munkhbayar Dorjsuren, who helped Sarnobat gain physical fitness and mental strength. [11] Ironically Dorjsuren was one of Sarnobat's competitors at the 2012 Olympics. [12]
Her bronze medal in the 2011 World Cup event at Fort Benning led to her selection for the London Olympics in 2012, thereby becoming the first female Indian shooter to qualify for the 25 metre sports pistol event in the Olympics. [3]
In May 2015, Sarnobat was recommended for the country's prestigious Arjuna Award by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). [13]
On 22 August 2018, she became the first Indian woman to become an individual Asian Games gold medallist in shooting by winning the 25 metre pistol event with a Games record score of 34. She won the shoot-off against her Thai opponent to win the gold. [14]
In ISSF World Cup in Osijek, Sarnobat won the gold medal in the women's 25m pistol event. [15]
The 30-year-old fired a final score of 39 after qualifying second with a total of 591. Her stupendous performance in the final earned her the Tokyo's ticket.

Tejaswini Sawant is an Indian shooter and Olympian from the Maharashtrian city of Kolhapur. In 2010 she became World Champion in the 50 metre prone rifle event.
Jaspal Rana is an Indian sport shooter and pistol coach. He contested mainly in the 25 m Centre Fire Pistol category. In a major accomplishment at the 2006 Asian Games, Rana won three gold medals and equaled the world record in 25 m Center Fire Pistol, competing in his fourth Asian Games since 1994 Asian Games. Rana is also a Commonwealth Games medalist, winning gold medals at the 1998, 2002, and 2006 Commonwealth Games. One of his most successful events was the 2002 Commonwealth Games, where he won six medals including the gold for Men's 25m Center Fire Pistol.
Honorary Captain Vijay Kumar Sharma, AVSM, SM is an Indian sport shooter. He won the silver medal in the individual 25 metre rapid fire pistol event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Kumar hails from Barsar village of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh and is a retired Subedar Major in the Dogra Regiment Indian Army, who was later promoted to Honorary Captain Rank. Vijay Kumar is supported by the Olympic Gold Quest initiative. He is the only Indian to have won a medal at 25m rapid Fire Pistol. He has been posted at Indian Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) Mhow since 2003 where he is being coached by the Russian Pavel Smirnov.
Anisa Sayyed is an Indian female pistol shooter who won two gold medals in 2010 Commonwealth Games. She also won a gold medal at the SAF games in 2006. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, she won a silver in the 25m event. Besides, she won a bronze in the 2014's Asian Games and silver in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in the same year. She set a new national record by winning a gold medal in women's 25m air pistol at the National Shooting Championship Competition in 2017.
Heena Sidhu is an Indian sport shooter. On 7 April 2014, Sidhu became the first Indian pistol shooter to reach number one in world rankings by the International Shooting Sport Federation. In 2013, Sidhu became the first Indian pistol shooter to win a gold medal in an ISSF World Cup finals when she won the 10-metre air pistol event. In 2014, Sidhu was the World record holder in the 10-metre air pistol event with a final score of 203.8. Sidhu is right handed and is right eye dominant.
Lalita Yauhleuskaya is a professional sporting shooter who won a bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney representing Belarus and currently represents Australia in international competition.
Shooting is an important Olympic sport in India. Of India's 41 Olympic medals, seven have come from shooting, including a gold by Abhinav Bindra in the 2008 Olympics. Indian shooters who have excelled at international events include Abhinav Bindra, Jaspal Rana, Jitu Rai, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Vijay Kumar, Gagan Narang, Apurvi Chandela, Ronjan Sodhi, Anjali Bhagwat, Heena Sidhu, Shreyasi Singh, Manu Bhaker, Avani Lekhara, Mona Agarwal, Anisa Sayyed, Rahi Sarnobat and Saurabh Chaudhary. Hayley Chapman is an Australian sport shooter who represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in shooting in the 25m pistol event where she placed 34th out of 39.
Malaika Goel is an Indian shooter. She won the silver medal in the Women's 10m Air Pistol competition at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. She was the youngest medallist.
Prakash Nanjappa, also known as P N Prakash, is an Indian shooter who competes in the 10 metre air pistol and 50 metre pistol events. He was the only Indian to win a medal in the 2013 ISSF World Cup, when he won bronze with a very minor difference between the second place in 10 metre air pistol event in Changwon, South Korea. In the same event, he won the silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Apurvi Singh Chandela is an Indian Shooting player who competes in the 10 metre air rifle event. She won the gold medal in the 2019 ISSF World Cup in New Delhi. She is a recipient of Arjuna award.
Ayonika Paul is an Indian shooter who competes in the 10 metre air rifle event. She won the silver medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Jitu Rai is an Indian Army Subedar Major who competes in the 10 metre air pistol and 50 metre pistol events. The Government of India announced the Khel Ratna Award for him in 2016. In 2020, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in the Republic of India.
Teo Shun Xie is a Singaporean sport shooter. In 2014, Teo set a final meet record in the women's air pistol to claim her first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Zhang Jingjing is a Chinese sport shooter. She placed fourth in the women's 25 metre pistol event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She also won the gold medal at the 2019 ISSF World Cup's women's 25-meter pistol competition.
Seonaid McIntosh is a British sports shooter who became the World Champion at the 2018 ISSF World Shooting Championships in the 50m Prone Rifle event. In 2019 she became Britain's most successful female rifle shooter of all time, winning five World Cup medals. She also became the first British Woman to rank World #1 for the 50m Rifle Three Position event and became European Champion in the 300m Rifle Prone event with an equal World Record score.

She won gold at the Commonwealth and Asian Games. She won 2 bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. Later, she won another bronze and became the first Indian woman to win two medals in an Olympics.
Anish Bhanwala is an Indian pistol shooter who competes in the 25 meter rapid fire pistol, 25 meter pistol, and 25 meter standard pistol events. He has been a part of the Indian shooting team since 2017. He represented India at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, 2018 Asian Games, ISSF Junior World Championship 2017 (Suhl), Commonwealth Shooting Championships 2017 (Brisbane), World Shooting Championships 2018 and numerous ISSF Senior and Junior World Cups and South Asian Games, Kathmandu.
Saurabh Chaudhary is an Indian sport shooter. He won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games in 10 m air pistol and became the youngest Indian gold medalist to do so. He has won gold medals and set a new world record at the Junior World Cup. He has won gold medals at the World Championships, World Cup, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games and Asian Championships. He broke his own world record with a score of 245.5 and claimed gold in junior men's 10m air pistol at the 2018 World Championships.
Esha Singh is an Indian sport shooter. She became the youngest national champion in the 10 meter air pistol in 2018 at the age of 13. Besides 10 meter air pistol, she also competes in 25 meter standard pistol and 25 meter pistol events.
