Rajeev Nayyar (born 28 March 1968) is a former Indian first-class cricketer who played for Himachal Pradesh. In 1999,he set the record for the longest first-class innings of all time by batting for 1,015 minutes (16 hours and 55 minutes) in a Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir. [1] [2]
Nayyar was born on 28 March 1968 in the town of Chamba. He made his first-class debut at the age of 18 for his home state Himachal Pradesh during the 1986–87 Ranji Trophy,one year after the state was granted BCCI's accreditation. [3] A right-handed middle-order batsman,Nayyar went on to represent Himachal Pradesh for 20 seasons and also served as its captain in several matches. He appeared in 96 first-class matches and scored 6,881 runs,at an average close to 45,with 20 hundreds. [4] He scored the first hundred by a Himachal Pradesh batsman in 1988 and captained the team to its maiden win in a Ranji Trophy match in 1990. [5] He also bowled part-time leg spin,picking 39 first-class wickets including two five-wicket hauls and was the first Himachal Pradesh bowler to take seven wickets in an innings. [3]
During the 1995–96 Ranji Trophy,Nayyar scored three back-to-back hundreds and earned a place in the North Zone team. He then played for India A in 1996 in a match against the touring South African team. [6] Playing for North Zone in the 1999–2000 Duleep Trophy,he had scores of 118 against South Zone,88 against Central Zone in the semifinal and 105 not out in the final against West Zone. [3]
Nayyar played his last first-class match in January 2006 and announced his retirement in December 2008. [7]
Nayyar shot to fame in November 1999,when he broke the record for the longest innings in the history of first-class cricket. He batted for 1,015 minutes in his innings of 271 against Jammu and Kashmir during a match of the 1999–00 Ranji Trophy in his home ground Chamba,breaking the previous record of 970 minutes set by Pakistan's Hanif Mohammad in a Test against the West Indies in 1958. [1] [8] [9] Nayyar,captain of Himachal Pradesh,began his innings at the fall of his team's first wicket in the 11th over on the second day of the match. He reached 89 at the close of the second day's play and was batting on 170 at stumps on day three. On the fourth and final day's play,he became the first batsman from Himachal Pradesh to score a first-class double hundred and was dismissed bowled for 271 from 728 balls in the 250th over of Himachal Pradesh's innings. [8] [10] As of December 2021 [update] ,Nayyar's innings remains the only instance in which a batsman has batted for more than 1000 minutes in an innings in first-class cricket. [1]
Nayyar has an MBA degree from the National University of Shimla. After his playing career,he worked as director at the Swami Devidayal College in Panchkula. [3] As of October 2016 [update] ,he works as a selector for the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. [11]

The season 2008–09 of the Ranji Trophy began on 4 November,and finished on 16 January with the final. 15 teams were divided in two groups. The 3 top teams of each group qualified to the playoffs,plus the two top teams of the plate league. Mumbai won the final by defeating Uttar Pradesh.
The Police Stadium is a cricket ground in Chamba,Himachal Pradesh,India. The first recorded match on the ground came when Himachal Pradesh Under-19s played Haryana Under-19s in 1995. The ground held its first first-class match in December 1995 when Himachal Pradesh played Jammu and Kashmir in the 1995/96 Ranji Trophy. The following season a further first-class match was held when Himachal Pradesh played Haryana in the 1996/97 Ranji Trophy. Three seasons later the ground held a third first-class match between Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir in the 1999/00 Ranji Trophy. Three List A matches have also been held on the ground,with the first coming in the 1995/96 Ranji Trophy one-day competition when Himachal Pradesh played Jammu and Kashmir. The others followed when Himachal Pradesh played Haryana in the 1996/97 competition and when Himachal Pradesh played Jammu and Kashmir in the 1999/00 competition. No further major matches have been staged there.

Parvez Ghulam Rasool Zargar is an Indian cricketer who plays as an all-rounder for Jammu and Kashmir. A right-hand batsman and offbreak bowler,Rasool is the captain of the Jammu and Kashmir team and a regular member of India A. He was bought for ₹95 lakh (US$110,000) by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2014 IPL auction. Rasool was the second cricketer after Mithun Manhas from Jammu and Kashmir to have played in The IPL and the first from the state to play for the Indian National Team in ODI's and T20I's. He played only 1 T20I and 1 ODI in his international career.
Imtiaz Ahmed was an Indian cricketer who played several matches for Jammu and Kashmir during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Imtiaz made his first-class debut in October 1996,against Punjab in the 1996–97 edition of the Ranji Trophy. A lower-order batsman,he played a further match in the following season's tournament,and also a single List A match in the limited-overs Ranji One-Day Trophy. Imtiaz did not play any further matches for Jammu and Kashmir until the 2002–03 season,which were to be his final two at first-class level. He finished his career with 101 runs from four matches at first-class level,with his highest score an innings of 40 runs against Madhya Pradesh in December 2002.

Shubham Khajuria is an Indian cricketer who plays for Jammu and Kashmir cricket team. He is a right-handed opening batsman. He played for the India Under-19 cricket team in 2013,becoming only the second cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to do so. In 2023,he played in great Manchester cricket league for Westhoughton cricket club as their pro scoring 745 runs in 11 league &cup games which included four centuries and two half centuries with an average of 93.13 including a double hundred (212) in his first match and a 37 ball 100 as well breaking the club record.

Dhruv Mahender Pandove was an Indian first-class cricketer who played for Punjab. He made his first-class debut at the age of 13 and was considered to be an "exceptionally gifted batsman" and a "prodigy". He became the youngest Indian and one of the youngest players in the world to score a century in first-class cricket,with his 137 against Jammu and Kashmir in 1988 coming at the age of 14 years and 294 days. He was the youngest player to reach the 1000-run mark in Ranji Trophy,reaching the milestone at the age of 17 years and 341 days.

The top two teams from Group D progressed to the quarterfinals of the competition. Vidarbha progressed to the knockout stage of the competition after beating Goa by an innings and 37 runs in round 6 of the tournament. They were joined by Bengal,after they drew against Goa in their final group-stage match.
