Ramona Andra Xavier (born August 19, 1992) is an American electronic musician from Portland, Oregon. She has released music under her primary Vektroid alias, as well as others, such as dstnt, Laserdisc Visions, New Dreams Ltd., Virtual Information Desk, and PrismCorp Virtual Enterprises. [1] Xavier played a prominent role in the popularization of the vaporwave subgenre with the release of her ninth studio album, Floral Shoppe , under the alias Macintosh Plus. The album helped popularize the vaporwave genre throughout the Internet. Since then, she has continued to release music through Bandcamp and other online platforms.
Xavier was born in Washington state on August 19, 1992. [2]
Xavier began producing and releasing electronic music in 2005. She has released music through aliases, including Macintosh Plus, PrismCorp, and Laserdisc Visions, among others. [1] She reports that she has put out over forty releases since 2005. Paolo Scarpa characterized Xavier's music as an "exposé of late capitalism". [3] James Parker noted Vektroid's "sensuous virtuality" and "new cyber-pop unconscious". [4] Writing for Sputnikmusic, Adam Downer called Floral Shoppe a shift toward beauty in an age that has nearly "run the gamut of what artists and musicians can do". [5]
Tiny Mix Tapes ranked Floral Shoppe and 札幌コンテンポラリー , released by Xavier under her Macintosh Plus and 情報デスクVIRTUAL aliases, respectively, on its list of its 50 favorite albums of 2012. [3] [4] Fact magazine called Floral Shoppe the defining album of Bandcamp, the streaming service through which Vektroid releases her music. The album is the site's most user-recommended album in the experimental music category. [6]
Xavier stopped releasing music regularly in early 2013, only releasing two albums of that year, Home™ and ClearSkies™ . Both albums were released under the PrismCorp Virtual Enterprises pseudonym in April. In 2014, Xavier released Initiation Tape: Isle of Avalon Edition , a revision of her release Initiation Tape - Part One, as New Dreams Ltd. In early 2015, she collaborated with electronic duo Magic Fades to produce a remix of the song "Ecco" from their debut album, Push Through. [7] In February 2016 she released three albums, Fuji Grid TV EX , Shader Complete and Sleepline. The first two are revisions of some of her albums, while the last one was produced in 2013 but never released previously. [8]
Under various aliases, Xavier played a role in the creation of the modern electronic genre vaporwave between 2010 and 2013. [9] [10] Her projects, Macintosh Plus and New Dreams Ltd., are considered as the primary artists in the vaporwave genre. [11] [12]
Xavier now resides in Portland, Oregon. [2] She is a trans woman. [13]

Vaporwave is a microgenre of electronic music, visual art style, and Internet meme that emerged in the early 2010s. It is defined partly by its slowed-down, chopped and screwed samples of smooth jazz, elevator, R&B, and lounge music from the 1980s and 1990s. The surrounding subculture is sometimes associated with an ambiguous or satirical take on consumer capitalism and pop culture, and tends to be characterized by a nostalgic or surrealist engagement with the popular entertainment, technology and advertising of previous decades. Visually, it incorporates early Internet imagery, late 1990s web design, glitch art, anime, 3D-rendered objects, and cyberpunk tropes in its cover artwork and music videos.
Floral Shoppe is the ninth studio album by the American electronic musician Vektroid under the alias Macintosh Plus, released on December 9, 2011 by the independent record label Beer on the Rug. It is her ninth full-length album and was one of the first releases of the 2010s microgenre known as vaporwave to gain popular recognition on the Internet. Since then, Floral Shoppe has been considered by some critics to be the defining album of the style.
Home™ is the thirteenth studio album by American electronic musician Vektroid, released on April 20, 2013 by Beer on the Rug. Released simultaneously alongside ClearSkies™ under her PrismCorp alias, both albums contrast with her previous releases, which had a primary focus on samples. The two albums consist primarily of original MIDI-styled compositions, much akin to computer and video game music released during the 1990s and 2000s; Home™ additionally incorporates original MIDI covers of obscure music into its release, and it has been the first Vektroid release to use the PrismCorp Virtual Enterprises alias.
ClearSkies™ is the fourteenth studio album by American electronic musician Vektroid, released on April 20, 2013 by PrismCorp and Beer on the Rug. The album was released simultaneously with her previous PrismCorp album Home™.
Chuck Person's Eccojams Vol. 1 is an album by American electronic musician Daniel Lopatin under the pseudonym Chuck Person. The album was reissued in 2014 as Initiation Tape: Isle of Avalon Edition, featuring a different tracklist as well as new artwork. This version was uploaded to Vektroid's Bandcamp page, however it has since been removed. The album samples music from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
Black Horse and MIDI Dungeon are studio albums by electronic musician Vektroid under the alias esc不在, released on August 2, 2011. The albums' genre is recognized as vaporwave. Released on 2 October 2014, its nine tracks use samples of elevator music to explore shopping malls. Following the success of Hiraeth (2014), Elzinga drew inspiration from the Jay Rock song "Hood Gone Love It" in Grand Theft Auto V (2013), and produced Palm Mall as his first "serious try" at a mallsoft release. It was a turning point for Elzinga's music and is his favorite release of the Cat System Corp. discography, featuring participation of several other vaporwave musicians.
