Rangia College is an institution of general higher education established on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River. It is located in Rangiya city of kamrup rural district of Assam. [1]

History

Rangia College has been serving providing educational opportunities for the North Kamrup area which is primarily a rural base.

Academics

Rangia college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses. All undergraduate courses commencing according to the three-year undergraduate honours degree system.

Women's Studies Research Cell

The Women's Studies Research Cell at Rangia College was established in 2004 under the guidance of the Women's Studies Research Cell at Gauhati University. [3] The Cell publishes a biannual ISBN Journal since 2010, titled Pratibhan, which serves as a platform for scholarly contributions in the field of women's studies.

Library

Rangia College library is a library of higher education in Assam, playing a role in conferring higher education to the user of North Kamrup. The central library of the college has been functioning as an part of the college from time of its inception. At this time of its inception the primary needs of the library were fulfilled with the help of donation and contribution of some well wishers and thereafter gradually it is able to become a modern computerized college library.

Bagadhar Brahma Kishan College is located at Jalahghat in the newly formed district of Baksa under BTAD, Assam. It was founded following a public initiative in 1978 to provide higher education to the underprivileged boys and girls of the Jalah block, which is situated in the north-eastern corner of the Baksa district near the Bhutan border, and populated mostly by scheduled tribes and other native communities. It was originally called Kishan College. In 1982, it was renamed to Bagadhar Brahma Kishan College after its benefactor who is an uneducated tribal social worker. This college is affiliated with the Gauhati University. The College was then one and only higher educational institute of entire Northern part of the Kamrup rural district. It offers courses like Higher Secondary (12th) Arts and Science stream, Bachelor of Arts (B.A) (major/minor), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) (major/minor), B.Voc, and some certificate courses. In the academic year 2012-2013, the College had completed 50 years of its glorious existence and celebrated as Golden jubilee year.

Nowgong College is an autonomous college affiliated to Gauhati University. Established in 1944, it is one of the oldest co-educational colleges of Assam, situated in the city of Nagaon.
