Porto Grande Bay, also Mindelo Bay, is a bay on the north coast of the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. The main city of São Vicente, Mindelo, is situated at the bay. The Porto Grande Bay is a natural harbour. It stretches between the headlands Ponta João Ribeiro in the northeast and Ponta do Morro Branco in the west. To the northwest it opens towards the Canal de São Vicente, the channel between the islands São Vicente and Santo Antão. The small rocky islet Ilhéu dos Pássaros lies north of the bay.
Tarrafal de São Nicolau is a city in the western part of the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde. With a population of 3,733, it is the most populous settlement of the island. It is the seat of the Tarrafal de São Nicolau Municipality, and the main port of the island. It is situated on the west coast, 9 km southwest of Ribeira Brava.
Estádio Municipal Adérito Sena is a multi-use stadium in Mindelo, Cape Verde. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Derby as well as CS Mindelense, Académica, GD Amarantes and Batuque FC and the lesser club of Corinthians São Vicente. The stadium holds 5,000 people and area is 105x68 m and its ground is artificial grass. The stadium is owned by the municipality of São Vicente and is operated by the São Vicente Regional Football Association (ARFSV). It is a certified stadium by FIFA for international competition as well as friendly matches
The São Vicente Island or Regional Premier Division is a regional championship played in São Vicente Island, Cape Verde. The championship is organized by the São Vicente Regional Football Association. The winner of the championship plays in Cape Verdean football Championships of each season. In 1989, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017, a second place club participated in the national championships, Académica do Mindelo in 1989, Mindelense in 2014 and FC Derby in 2015 and in 2016 and will be for 2017. The 7th place club plays with a Second Division runner-up in a division decisional match to decide on promoting or remain in the Second Division. The last placed club relegated into the São Vicente Second Division. Up to around 2010, only a club was relegated into that division.
Ponta João Ribeiro is a cape in the northern part of the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. It is 2.5 km northwest of the city centre of Mindelo. The cape divides the Canal de São Vicente and the Porto Grande Bay. The islet of Ilhéu dos Pássaros is approximately 1.3 km to the west. Near the cape is an abandoned military camp.
Pico do Vento is a mountain in the eastern part of the island of São Vicente. It is situated south of the Ribeira do Calhau valley, 12 km southeast of the island capital Mindelo.
Ribeira do Calhau is a stream in the eastern part of the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde. It begins in the hills southeast of the island capital Mindelo, flows towards the east and empties into the Atlantic Ocean, at the village Calhau. The settlement Ribeira de Calhau, which comprises the villages Madeiral, Ribeira de Calhau and Calhau, takes its name from this stream.
Porto Novo is a city in the island of Santo Antão, in Cape Verde. It is the seat of the Porto Novo municipality. At the 2010 census, the town had 9,310 inhabitants, which makes it the most populous settlement of the island.

Ribeira Bote is a subdivision of the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. Its population was 3,956 at the 2010 census. It borders the city centre to the northwest and Fonte Cónego to the north. The Hospital Velho and the church Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora are located in Ribeira Bote.
Praia Harbor is the port of the city of Praia in the southern part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. It is situated in a natural bay of the Atlantic Ocean. Since the latest modernization in 2014, it has 2 long quays, 3 shorter quays, a quay for fishing boats with fish processing installations, 2 container parks, 2 roll-on/roll-off ramps and a passenger terminal. The total length of the quays is 863 m, and the maximum depth is 13.5 m. The port of Praia played an important role in the colonization of Africa and South America by the Portuguese. With 817,845 metric tonnes of cargo and 85,518 passengers handled (2017), it is the second busiest port of Cape Verde, after Porto Grande (Mindelo).

It is the place where the island's first settlement was founded in 1793. Many public buildings are situated in the city centre. It lies along the Porto Grande Bay. Adjacent neighbourhoods include Fortinho to the northwest, Alto Miramar to the northeast, Fonte Cônego to the east and Ribeira Bote to the southeast.

The 2016–17 São Vicente Island League season was the 85th of the competition of the second and third tiers of football in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. It started on 17 December 2016 and finished on 30 April 2017. The championship was organized and governed by the São Vicente Regional Football Association. CS Mindelense won the 49th title, as they were national champions in the previous season, once again Derby as second place qualified into the 2017 Cape Verdean Football Championships, two weeks later in May. Mindelense qualified into the regional Super Cup as champion later in the year and faced the cup winner Derby.
