Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward is a city ward in Ottawa, Ontario. Located in the city's east end, the ward covers the neighbourhoods of New Edinburgh, Manor Park, Rockcliffe Park, Wateridge Village, Overbrook, Lindenlea, Viscount Alexander Park, Carson Meadows, Cardinal Glen, Rockcliffe Mews, Forbes, Castle Heights and part of Carson Grove.
Prior to amalgamation, the area was part of Rideau Ward. The name "Rideau Ward" has been applied to this area since New Edinburgh was annexed by Ottawa in 1887. It was first contested in the 1887 municipal election, [2] and was known as New Edinburgh Ward in the 1887 and 1888 elections. [3] This recent incarnation of Rideau Ward was created in 1994 from Overbrook-Forbes Ward and part of By-Rideau Ward. It was initially named Ward 4 before being renamed Rideau in 1995.

Vanier, formerly Eastview, is a neighbourhood in the Rideau-Vanier Ward of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada's east end. Historically francophone and working class, the neighbourhood was a separate city until being amalgamated into Ottawa in 2001. It no longer has a majority francophone population. By 2012 its francophone population had shrunk to less than 40% from 63% in the early 1980s. The neighbourhood is located on the east bank of the Rideau River, across from the neighbourhoods of Lowertown and Sandy Hill, and just south of Rockcliffe Park, New Edinburgh, Lindenlea, and Manor Park. To the east of Vanier are the suburbs of Gloucester. Vanier has a relatively small area with a high population density.

Alta Vista Ward is a city ward in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada represented on Ottawa City Council. Alta Vista Ward was created prior to the 1966 election when Gloucester Ward was split in half due to population growth in the Alta Vista area. Until the 1972 elections, the ward was represented by two councillors. Prior to the 1980 election, the Ward was split in half, with the western half remaining as Alta Vista ward and the eastern half became Canterbury Ward. They were reunited prior to the 1994 Election and was known as Ward 10, and given the name Alta Vista-Canterbury Ward in 1995. During this time, on regional council it was known as just Alta Vista Ward. It was renamed to Alta Vista in 2000.
Overbrook is an urban neighbourhood situated in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward, in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located across the Rideau River from the neighbourhood of Sandy Hill and is just to the south of Vanier. To the east of Overbrook is the former City of Gloucester. It was constituted as a police village in 1922 and was annexed by the City of Ottawa in 1950.

Orléans South-Navan Ward is a city ward in Ottawa, Ontario represented on Ottawa City Council. It is located in the east end of the city, encompassing the southern portion of the Orleans subdivision and surrounding rural areas.
Richard Cannings is a former Ottawa City Councillor, who served on council from 1991 to 2000. He represented By-Rideau Ward from 1991 to 1994 and then Rideau Ward until 2000.
Mathieu Fleury is the former Ottawa City Councillor of Rideau-Vanier Ward, which includes Lowertown, Sandy Hill and Vanier. He won the ward in the 2010 Ottawa municipal election, defeating the incumbent Georges Bédard in a narrow contest, the youngest City Councillor to be elected at that time. Prior to taking up his post, he was a City Councillor for Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward in Ottawa, Ontario from 2014 to 2019. Nussbaum spent more than a decade as a diplomat in Global Affairs Canada, including postings to the United Nations in New York City during Canada's last term on the Security Council and the World Trade Organization in Geneva.
