Ridgemede is an unincorporated community in Perry Township, Monroe County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. [2]

Perry Township is one of eleven townships in Monroe County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 50,673 and it contained 24,194 housing units.

According to the Monroe County History Center, Bloomington is known as the "Gateway to Scenic Southern Indiana." The city was established in 1818 by a group of settlers from Kentucky, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Virginia who were so impressed with "a haven of blooms" that they called it Bloomington.
