The NY Liberty are an American professional basketball team based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The Liberty compete in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a member of the Eastern Conference. The team was founded in 1997 and is one of the eight original franchises of the league. The team is owned by Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai, the majority owners of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets. The team's home games are played at Barclays Center.

Rebecca Rose Lobo-Rushin is an American television basketball analyst and former professional women's basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) from 1997 to 2003. Lobo, at 6'4", played the center position for much of her career. She played college basketball at the University of Connecticut, where she was a member of the team that won the 1995 national championship, going 35–0 on the season in the process. She was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010. In April 2017, she was one of the members of the 2017 class of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, alongside Tracy McGrady and Muffet McGraw.

Alicia Rachelle Thompson is a former WNBA basketball player for the Seattle Storm. She was raised in Big Lake, Texas and attended high school at Reagan County High School where she excelled in basketball, shot put and discus throw. She was recruited by Texas Tech while still in high school and became Tech's 2nd all-time leading rebounder and scorer, scoring 2,156 points throughout her college career. Also excelling in track and proficiency in the discus throw, Thompson was voted Kodak All-American in her senior year and went on to be voted as the Big Twelve Player of the Year. Thompson honed her basketball skills as a Lady Raider and was drafted by New York Liberty in the 1st round, as 9th overall pick. Her determination and tenacity propelled her to achieve an outstanding career in basketball. During her six-year career in the WNBA, she also played for the Indiana Fever and the Seattle Storm. While starting for the Indiana Fever, Thompson scored a single game high of 22 points and collecting 15 rebounds. During her time playing for the Seattle Storm Thompson had the best season of her career, averaging 10.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and shooting 51.4% from the field, Thompson ranks in the WNBA's top five. While playing for the Seattle Storm in 2004, the team defeated the Connecticut Sun winning them the first Championship in 25 years highlighting her career as a professional basketball player. Since retiring from the WNBA Thompson has played professional basketball in Spain, Italy, Israel, and Turkey.

Leilani Seamah Mitchell is an American-Australian professional basketball player for the Southside Flyers of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). Mitchell was drafted 25th overall by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2008 WNBA draft. A dual citizen of the United States and Australia, she is a member of Australian women's national basketball team. In 2019 Mitchell became the first WNBA player to win the Most Improved Player Award twice.

Huskies of Honor is a recognition program sponsored by the University of Connecticut (UConn). Similar to a hall of fame, it honors the most significant figures in the history of the UConn Huskies—the university's athletic teams—especially the men's and women's basketball teams. The inaugural honorees, inducted in two separate ceremonies during the 2006–07 season, included thirteen men's basketball players, ten women's basketball players, and four head coaches, of whom two coaches—Jim Calhoun and Geno Auriemma—and three players—Ray Allen, Swin Cash and Rebecca Lobo—are also enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Since that time, an additional twelve women's basketball players, ten men's basketball players, nine national championship teams, one women's basketball assistant coach, and one athletic director have been honored.
Danielle E'Shawn Adams is an American former professional basketball forward-center who played in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball at Texas A&M. She is the first Texas A&M player to be named an Associated Press first-team All-American. She also captured first team All-American honors from the WBCA. She was the Most Outstanding Player in the 2011 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament championship, scoring 30 points. The 30 points rank second in NCAA Championship Game history.
Danny "Dan" Mara is a retired college basketball coach, Commissioner and former Chair of the Membership Committee. He spent 16 years directing a highly successful basketball camp at Mitchell where he is considered a special alumni. As head coach at Mitchell, he coached ten Kodak All-Americans including future Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) player Rita Williams. Williams went on to University of Connecticut to lead them to the 1998 Big East Championship and was named tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP). She was the 12th pick in the 1998 WNBA draft and was chosen as the first all-star game representative in Indiana Fever history. As coach of the New London, Connecticut junior college team, Mara was the guardian of the longest regular-season winning streak in college basketball. In his coaching career at Mitchell College, Mara still lived on campus, in Matteson Hall, a men's dorm. He roomed with Pep, a 16-year-old Samoyed and collie mix, who until the 1994 basketball season sat beside him at home games. To players he is something of a father figure to potential athletes, because each year Mara looks after stray players who, for various reasons, have not found a place at a four-year college, and he makes them part of his family.
Katie Lou Samuelson is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Fever of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the UConn Huskies. Samuelson is also the director of player development for the Vanderbilt Commodores women's basketball program.
Tiffany Mitchell is an American professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She also currently plays for the Galatasaray of the Eurocup and Turkish Basketball Leagues. Mitchell played college basketball for the South Carolina Gamecocks, where she was a two-time SEC Player of the Year. After concluding her collegiate career, she was selected ninth overall in the 2016 WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever. During the WNBA off-seasons, Mitchell has played overseas in Russia, Turkey, Israel and Australia.

The Las Vegas Aces are an American professional basketball team based in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. The Aces compete in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) as a member of the Western Conference. The team plays their home games at Michelob Ultra Arena in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, and is headquartered in Henderson, Nevada. The Aces won the 2022 WNBA Commissioner's Cup and WNBA Championship. The Aces also won the 2023 WNBA Championship, becoming the first team to win back-to-back championships since 2001-2002, when the Los Angeles Sparks completed that feat.
