Rivellia variabilis is a species of signal flies (insects in the family Platystomatidae). [1] [2] [3] [4]
The Platystomatidae are a distinctive family of flies (Diptera) in the superfamily Tephritoidea.
The Ropalomeridae are a family of acalyptrate flies.
Rivellia is a genus of signal flies. There are at least 140 described species in Rivellia.
Ortalis is an historic genus of Ulidiid or picture-winged flies, first described by Fallén in 1810. It served as the type genus for the family Ulidiidae, which was called Ortalidae at the time. In 1932, it was pointed out by Adlrich that the name Ortalis was preoccupied by a genus of birds which had been named by Merrem in 1786. The name of the fly family was therefore revised, with some authors calling it Otitidae until Ulidiidae was settled on as standard. The genus itself was found to be paraphyletic, and all of its species have been reassigned to other genera, some in the Ulidiidae, and some in other Tephritoid families. In the following list, the species are organized according to the families and genera to which they have been reassigned.
Rivellia munda is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia cognata is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia winifredae is a species of signal flies. It is found associated with Apios americana.
Rivellia steyskali is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia metallica is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia quadrifasciata, the soybean nodule fly, is a species of signal flies.
Oulema variabilis is a species of leaf beetle in the family Chrysomelidae. It is found in North America.
Rivellia flavimana is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia micans is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia occulta is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia vaga is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia coquilletti is a species of signal flies.
Rivellia inaequata is a species of signal flies.
Psallus variabilis is a species of plant bug in the family Miridae. It is found in the Palearctic and as an adventive species in North America. It feeds on the sap of a variety of forest trees including Quercus, plum and crab apple trees and on rose, raspberry and cranberry.
Rivellia conjuncta is a species of signal flies.
