The Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Portal (Latin : Arcis Portal) is a diocese located in the city of Fort Portal in the ecclesiastical province of Mbarara in Uganda. [1]

The Catholic Diocese of Fort Portal formerly belonging to Rwenzori Vicariate was erected on 2 July 1961, with Vincent Joseph McCauley† CSC, as its first bishop. He was succeeded in 1972 by Serapio Bwemi Magambo† who served the Diocese until 1991, when Paul Lokiru Kalanda† took over as the third Bishop of the Diocese. His successor, the current bishop, Robert Muhiirwa, was ordained and installed on 15 June 2003. [1]

Vincent Joseph McCauley, CSC was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. A member of the Congregation of Holy Cross, he was the first Bishop of Fort Portal, having served as the ordinary of the diocese from 1961 to 1972. Later, he served as executive director of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa from 1972 to 1979. A Servant of God, his cause for beatification was introduced in the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in August 2006.

Joseph Mugenyi Sabiiti, is a Roman Catholic priest, who is the Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Portal, in Uganda. He was appointed bishop on 2 January 1999.

Serapio Bwemi Magambo, was a Ugandan Catholic priest who served as the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Portal, from 16 November 1972 until his resignation on 17 June 1991. Prior to that, he served as the Auxiliary Bishop of Fort Portal from 26 June 1969 until 16 November 1972.

Denis Kiwanuka Lote was a Ugandan Catholic prelate who served as Archbishop of Tororo from 27 June 2007 until 2 January 2014. He previously served as Bishop of Kotido from 20 May 1991 until 27 June 2007.

Egidio Nkaijanabwo, is a Ugandan Roman Catholic priest who served as Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kasese, from 6 March 1989 until 15 April 2014.
