Rowing competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games will be held between October 21 and 25, 2023 at the Laguna Grande in San Pedro de La Paz, Chile. [1]

Contents

Fifteen medal events will be contested, seven for males, seven for females and one mixed. [2] The men's eights event and the lightweight women's singles event was dropped and replaced with a mixed eights event. [3] However, the eights events for both men and women were later added to the sports program. [4]

Qualification

A total of up to 220 rowers will qualify to compete at the games. A country may only enter a maximum of 21 rowers. All qualification will be done at the 2023 Qualifier Championship (except the mixed eights which will be by entry only), where a specific number of boats will qualify in each of the 13 events. [2] The gold medalists in both Men’s Single Sculls and the Women’s Single Sculls in the 2021 Junior Pan American Games received a direct quota for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, which will not be part of the maximum quota specified within the qualification process for these Games.

The rowing competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris ran from 27 July to 3 August at the Stade nautique de Vaires-sur-Marne, National Olympic Nautical Stadium of Île-de-France in Vaires-sur-Marne. The number of rowers competing across fourteen gender-based categories at these Games was reduced from 526 to 502, with an equal distribution between men’s and women’s events. Despite the slight changes in athlete figures, the rowing program for Paris 2024 remained constant from the previous edition as the competition featured an equal number of categories for men and women, with seven each.

Shaye de Paiva is a national team rower from Canada. De Paiva was a Pan American Games champion when she won gold in the women's eight at the 2023 Pan Am Games in Santiago as well as two bronze in the double and quadruple sculls.
