SM Town Live 2022: SMCU Express at Kwangya (stylized as SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @ KWANGYA) was an online live concert held on January 1, 2022, by SM Entertainment. Similar to the 2021-new-year online concert SMTOWN Live "Culture Humanity", the concert was broadcast free of charge online through various streaming platforms and selected broadcasting network in selected countries.
On December 10, 2021, SM Entertainment announced that it would be releasing an winter album titled 2021 Winter SM Town: SMCU Express . In the same announcement, it was also announced that a free-to-watch live online concert will also be held on January 1, 2022. [4] The lineup consisting of Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon of Girls' Generation, Onew, Key, and Minho of Shinee, Kai of Exo, Red Velvet, NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, Aespa, Ginjo, Imlay, and Raiden was announced on December 23, 2021. [5] On December 27, 2021, it was announced newly formed supergroup Got the Beat will make their debut at the concert. [6] On December 30, 2021, J.E.B, Minimonster, Mar Vista, and Hitchhiker was added to the performers lineup. In addition, it was announced Changmin would be performing a preview of "Fever" from his upcoming album prior to the actual release. [7] On January 24, Beyond LIVE and U+ Idol Live announced the concert will be re-streamed on January 29, 2022.[ citation needed ]

SM Town is a musical collective for the recording artists under South Korean entertainment company SM Entertainment.
SM Rookies is a pre-debut training team created by South Korean entertainment agency SM Entertainment in 2013, composed of trainees who have yet to join an idol group. From 2013 to 2018, the team officially introduced 30 members, with 25 of them later debuting in the groups Red Velvet (4), NCT and its first four subunits (19), Aespa (1), and Lami as an actress.
NCT Dream is the third sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT, formed by SM Entertainment in 2016. They were initially intended to be the teenaged unit of NCT with an admission-and-graduation system, in which members would leave after reaching age of majority, prior to re-branding in 2020. The sub-unit debuted on August 25, 2016, with the single "Chewing Gum" and a lineup of seven members—Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung—whose average age was 15.6 years old. In late 2018, the group's leader Mark graduated from NCT Dream but returned in 2020 when began promoting as a fixed seven-member group.
Girls' Generation-Oh!GG (Korean: 소녀시대-Oh!GG) is the second sub-unit of South Korean girl group Girls' Generation, formed by SM Entertainment in 2018. Composed of the five Girls' Generation members who remained with the agency: Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Yoona, Oh!GG officially debuted in September 2018 with the single "Lil' Touch".

Moon Tae-il, known mononymously as Taeil, is a South Korean singer. He is a member of the South Korean boy group NCT and its sub-units NCT U and NCT 127, managed by the label SM Entertainment. Taeil made his debut in April 2016 in the rotational unit NCT U and became a member of the Seoul-based unit NCT 127 in July 2016.

The album marks the first SM Town's special season album release in 10 years after the predecessor 2011 Winter SMTOWN: The Warmest Gift, which was released in December 2011. Ever SM Town is a theme park space and content production project by SM Entertainment and Everland. The project was formed through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between SM and Everland. It opened on October 1, 2022, with the concept integrated into the theme park's major areas that incorporated SM Culture Universe (SMCU). Various SM artists' intellectual property (IP) was utilized for the artist-experience space throughout the amusement park.
2022 Winter SM Town: SMCU Palace is the tenth winter album by SM Town. It was released by SM Entertainment on December 26, 2022. The album contains ten tracks that saw various collaborations of the label's artists, with two singles have been released to support the album; "Beautiful Christmas" was released as the album's lead single on December 14, 2022, and "The Cure", released as the second single on January 1, 2023, during the annual online free concert SM Town Live 2023: SMCU Palace at Kwangya.
