Saboten Con is an annual four-day anime convention held during August/September at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown in Phoenix, Arizona. [2] The convention is held over Labor Day weekend. Its name comes from the Japanese word saboten, meaning "cactus". [6] [7]
The convention typically offers an anime music video contest, anime screenings, concerts, gaming, karaoke, masquerade, Japanese fashion show, maid cafes, panels, screenings, steampunk ball, vendors, and workshops. [1] [5] [6] [7] [8] The convention had over 700 hours of programming in 2017. [5] [9]
Saboten Con was named the "Best Anime Convention – 2010" by the Phoenix New Times . [8] Saboten Con 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [10] [11] The convention for 2021 had a mask policy. [12] Saboten Con expanded in 2023 by adding space at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown, along with hosting a gaming event named SaboSlam. [9]

A-Kon is an annual three-day anime convention held during June at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas and Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas. First held in 1990 with just 380 people in attendance, A-Kon is North America's longest running convention primarily focused on anime.

Otakuthon is a Canadian anime convention promoting Japanese animation (anime), Japanese graphic novels (manga), related gaming and Japanese pop-culture. It is held annually for 3 days in downtown Montreal during a weekend in August. It is a non-profit, fan-run anime convention that was initiated by Concordia University's anime club, named Otaku Anime of Concordia University. The name "Otakuthon" is a portmanteau of the Japanese word "otaku" and "marathon". Otakuthon strives to be a bilingual event, having programming, the masquerade and the program book in both official languages. The first edition of Otakuthon was held in 2006 in mid-June, but later moved to early-mid August / late July from 2007 onward. The current edition, Otakuthon 2024, is being held on August 2-4, 2024 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
Youmacon is an annual four-day anime convention held during November at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Youmacon's creation was inspired by other conventions including Anime Central and Ohayocon, with the convention's name coming from the Japanese word for demon or ghost. Founded by Morgan Kollin in 2005, it is the largest anime/gaming convention in Michigan. Midwest Media Expo was the convention's sister event.
Ohayocon is a three-day anime convention typically held during January in Columbus, Ohio, at the Hyatt Regency Columbus and the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Ohayocon's name is derived from the similarity between "Ohio", the convention's location, and Ohayou (おはよう), which means "good morning" in Japanese.
SacAnime is a bi-annual three-day anime convention held at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, California. The convention's sister events include SacAnime Roseville, the Sacramento Comic, Toy and Anime Show (Sac-Con), and Bak-Anime.

Phoenix Fan Fusion is a speculative fiction entertainment and comic book convention held annually in Phoenix, Arizona. It was founded as the Phoenix Cactus Comicon in June 2002, and originally consisted of a one-day six-hour event held in Ahwatukee, Arizona. The convention plays host to comic related panels, programming events, art contests, and autograph signings for all ages. It is a three-day event (Friday-Sunday) held during the summer at the Phoenix Convention Center in downtown Phoenix. On Thursday evening prior to the official opening of the event, there is a preview for professionals, exhibitors, and select guests pre-registered for all four days.
OMGcon is a three-day anime convention held during June at the Owensboro Convention Center in Owensboro, Kentucky. The convention was previously held in Paducah, Kentucky. The name of the convention comes from the common abbreviation of Oh My God. OMGcon is run by volunteers.
