The men's 470 was a sailing event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the 470 dinghy that took place between 28 July and 4 August 2021 [1] at Enoshima Yacht Harbor. 11 races (the last one a medal race) will be held. 19 teams have qualified for the event. [2]

Medals were presented by IOC Member for Paraguay Camilo Pérez López Moreira and World Sailing Athlete Commission Chair Mrs Duriye Ozlem Akdurak.

    The 470 (Four-Seventy) is a double-handed monohull planing dinghy with a centreboard, Bermuda rig, and centre sheeting. Equipped with a spinnaker, trapeze and a large sail-area-to-weight ratio, it is designed to plane easily, and good teamwork is necessary to sail it well. The name comes from the boat's length of 470 centimetres.

    Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad. With the exception of 1904 and possibly the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule. The Sailing program of 1996 consisted of a total of ten sailing classes (disciplines). Eleven races were scheduled and completed. 40 sailors, on 20 boats, from 20 nations competed.     Luke Patience is a British Olympic sailor. He competed with Stuart Bithell at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the team won a silver medal.

    Anton Carl Diderik Dahlberg is a Swedish sailor, who specializes in the 470 class, a two-person dinghy. He has represented Sweden, along with his partner Sebastian Östling, in two editions of the Olympic Games, and with Fredrik Bergström in 2016 and 2020, winning an Olympic silver in 2020. He has been representing the Royal Swedish Yacht Club throughout most of his career.

    The Men's 470 was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 2016 Summer Olympics program in Rio de Janeiro, in the 470 dinghy. It took place between 10 and 17 August at Marina da Glória. 11 races were held.

    Jacob Saunders is a Canadian sailor. Along with his partner Graeme Saunders, he competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 470 event, finishing in 22nd place. He represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics together with Oliver Bone of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, finishing in 17th place in the men's 470 event. He started his early training and career with the Chester Yacht Club, competing as Jacob Chaplin-Saunders.

    The Laser competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the men's one-person dinghy event and was held in Enoshima, Japan, from 25 July to 1 August 2021. 35 sailors from 35 nations competed in 11 races, including one medal-race where points were doubled. The land venue was Enoshima Yacht Harbour and races were held on Sagami Bay.

    The women's 470 was a sailing event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the 470 dinghy that took place between 28 July and 2 August 2021 at Enoshima Yacht Harbor. 11 races were be held. 21 teams qualified for the event.

    The women 49er FX was a sailing event at the 2020 Summer Olympics and took place between 27 July and 3 August. The defending champions, Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze from Brazil, won the event. Tina Lutz and Susann Beucke from Germany were the second, and Annemiek Bekkering and Annette Duetz from the Netherlands won the bronze medal. For Lutz, Beucke, Bekkring, and Duetz this was the first Olympic medal.

    The mixed Nacra 17 was a sailing event at the 2020 Summer Olympics that took place between 28 July–3 August at Kamakura. 13 races were held.

    Switzerland competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Swiss athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games in the modern era, except for a partial boycott of the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne in protest at the Soviet invasion of Hungary.

    American Samoa competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020, the Games were postponed to July 23 to August 8, 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The country's participation in Tokyo marked its ninth consecutive appearance in the Summer Olympics since its debut in the 1988 Summer Olympics.
