San Marino sent a delegation to compete at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia from 7 to 23 February 2014. This was the country's ninth appearance and the first time a woman was representing the nation at the Winter Olympics. The delegation consisted of three officials and two competitors, alpine skiers Vincenzo Michelotti and Federica Selva. Both of them took part in giant slalom races and were unranked in the competition. Michelotti was disqualified and Selva could not finish her race.
San Marino debuted at the 1960 Summer Olympics held in Rome, Italy and entered the Winter Olympics in 1976 at Innsbruck, Austria. Since then, it has participated in every Winter Olympics except the 1980 and 1998 ones held in the United States and Japan respectively, making Sochi the nation's ninth Winter Olympics appearance. According to the final quota allocation released on January 20, 2014, San Marino had two athletes in qualification position. [7] Federica Selva did not complete the first run of her race, thus receiving an official placement of did not finish. [8]
Vincenzo Michelotti was the youngest Olympian at these Games at 17 years and 98 days, racing in the giant slalom. His left ski fell off during his run, and he crashed. Officials disqualified him when they determined that made his run not continuous. [9] [10]

Vanessa-Mae, also called Vanessa-Mae Vanakorn Nicholson, is a Singaporean-born British violinist with album sales reaching several million, having made her the wealthiest entertainer under 30 in the United Kingdom in 2006. She competed under the name Vanessa Vanakorn for Thailand in alpine skiing at the 2014 Winter Olympics. She was initially banned from skiing by the International Ski Federation (FIS) after participating in a qualifying race allegedly organised to enable her to qualify for the Winter Olympics. An appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport led to the ban being nullified, citing lack of evidence for her own wrongdoing or any manipulation. The FIS later issued an apology to her.
Madagascar competed in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. The country's participation at the Games marked its Winter Olympics debut, although it had competed in the Summer Olympics since 1964. The delegation consisted of a single alpine skier, Mathieu Razanakolona, who did not win any medals.

The 2010 delegation consisted of two athletes competing in alpine skiing, Adam Lamhamedi and Kenza Tazi, who were accompanied by Adam's brother Sami and four officials. Adam Lamhamedi was also the nation's flag bearer in the Parade of Nations, and at the closing ceremony. Neither skier finished on a medal podium.
Vincenzo Romano Michelotti is an alpine skier from San Marino. He will compete for San Marino at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the giant slalom competition. Michelotti was also selected to carry the Sammarinese flag during the opening ceremony.
Alessia Afi Dipol is an Italian-Togolese alpine skier who competed for Togo at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics in the slalom and giant slalom. Dipol also originally competed for India between 2011 and 2013, but she later switched to compete for Togo even though she has no familial connections to the country, so she could qualify to compete at the 2014 Winter Olympics. She also chose to represent the country because her father owns a clothing factory in Togo.
Federica Selva is a Sammarinese alpine skier. She competed for San Marino at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the giant slalom competition, and became the first female athlete to represent the country at the Winter Olympics as well.
Iceland sent a delegation to compete at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia from 7–16 March 2014. This was Iceland's third time participating at a Winter Paralympic Games. The Icelandic delegation consisted of two alpine skiers, Erna Friðriksdóttir and Jóhann Þór Hólmgrímsson. Jóhann finished 23rd in the men's sitting giant slalom, while Erna finished 10th in the women's sitting slalom and 9th in the women's sitting giant slalom.
New Zealand sent a delegation to compete at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia, held between 7–16 March 2014. The country continued its streak of competing in every Winter Paralympics since 1984. New Zealand's delegation consisted of three competitors in alpine skiing, one of whom, Corey Peters, won a silver medal in the giant slalom. With one silver medal, the country tied for 16th on the medal table for these Paralympics.
Malta sent a delegation to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018, with one competitor, alpine skier Élise Pellegrin. It was the country's second Winter Olympic appearance, after the 2014 Winter Olympics. Pellegrin was designated as the flag bearer for both the parade of nations during the opening ceremony, and the closing ceremony. She was disqualified from the giant slalom, and finished 50th in the slalom.
