The Santa Rosa Transit Mall is located along Second Street (between B Street and Santa Rosa Avenue), configured as a set of bus stops within the city block. Its location being close to downtown and across from Santa Rosa Plaza allows passengers to work, shop, dine, and relax within the Transit Mall's vicinity. [5] Other major bus agencies, including Greyhound, which provides connections between Santa Rosa and the rest of the country, and Sonoma County Airport Express that provides connections between Santa Rosa and two Bay Area airports (SFO and OAK), do not stop at the Transit Mall; instead, these services stop at a hotel south of downtown. [6] The city is also on the main route of the future Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit service, but, the railway station will not be built at the Transit Mall; instead, it will be built at Historic Downtown (Railroad Square), [7] in which service from the Transit Mall is currently provided by Santa Rosa CityBus.
Being the main transfer point in Santa Rosa, the transit mall offers two area platforms on either side of Second Street, being the North Platform and South Platform, which allows passengers to transfer between buses easily. A multi-story parking lot (park-and-ride) is available just next to the Transit Mall, allowing commuters and visitors to drive from Sonoma County and beyond to park and ride their commuter buses or shop at nearby downtown and Santa Rosa Plaza. Stol Air Commuter was a United States commuter airline that began service around 1974. The air carrier was also known as STOL Air Commuter thus reflecting its use of STOL aircraft. It served the San Francisco, California Bay Area and northern California. The airline was based in San Rafael in Marin County just north of the city of San Francisco and also had administrative offices located in Santa Rosa, CA at one point. Stol Air Commuter operated scheduled passenger air service connecting several cities in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as northern California with San Francisco International Airport (SFO). According to the airline's system timetable, in the spring of 1975 Stol Air Commuter was operating 66 daily flights serving SFO via United Airlines gate 10 at the airport.

Sonoma County Airport is a Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit train station in Santa Rosa near the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport. It opened to preview service on July 1, 2017; full commuter service commenced on August 25, 2017. Until Phase 2 is completed, this will be the northern terminus of rail service on the line. Phase 1 was originally to extend only to Santa Rosa North, but in 2013 the MTC approved the addition of the airport station adjacent to the SMART Operations and Maintenance Facility.
Santa Rosa Downtown station is a Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit train station in Santa Rosa. It opened to SMART preview service on July 1, 2017; full commuter service commenced on August 25, 2017. It is located west of Wilson Street between 4th and 5th Streets, across the U.S. Route 101 freeway from downtown at the site of the ex-Northwestern Pacific Railroad station building. The station is the focal point of the Railroad Square Historic District, a National Register of Historic Places historic district designated in 1979.
Windsor is a bus station and future Sonoma–Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) train station in Windsor, California. The station served Sonoma County Transit and Mendocino Transit Authority, with service to Sonoma County Airport station provided by Sonoma County Transit under contract by SMART. SMART train service is expected to begin in 2021 or 2022.
