The Sarychat-Ertash State Nature Reserve is located in Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan. It was established in 1995 with a purpose of conservation of unique nature complexes, rare and threatened species of flora and fauna of syrt area of Issyk-Kul Region, and maintaining regional environmental balance. The reserve currently occupies 134,140 hectares including 72,080 hectares of core area. [1]

The reserve was founded mainly to protect the endangered snow leopard and the argali, a large wild sheep of Central Asia. Other large mammals are Siberian ibex, wild boar, Eurasian lynx, Eurasian wolf and Eurasian brown bear. Smaller and medium-sized mammals, include red fox, pallas cat, stone marten, badger, tolai hare and gray marmot. The reserve is excluded of any usage, including tourism. [2]

Issyk-Kul

Issyk-Kul is an endorheic lake in the Northern Tian Shan mountains in Eastern Kyrgyzstan. It is the seventh deepest lake in the world, the tenth largest lake in the world by volume and the second largest saline lake after the Caspian Sea. Issyk-Kul means "warm lake" in the Kyrgyz language; although it is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, it never freezes.

Balykchy Place in Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyzstan

Balykchy is a town at the western end of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, at an elevation of about 1,900 metres. Its area is 38 square kilometres (15 sq mi), and its resident population was 42,875 in 2009. Tüp District Raion in Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyzstan

Tüp is a raion (district) of Issyk-Kul Region in north-eastern Kyrgyzstan. The capital lies at Tyup. Its area is 2,121 square kilometres (819 sq mi), and its resident population was 58,786 in 2009. It borders Issyk Kul District to the west, Ak-Suu District to the east and south-east, Kazakhstan to the north, and Issyk Kul to the south.

The Protected areas of Kyrgyzstan cover 1,476,121.6 hectares and account for 7.38% of the country's total area (2017). The first protected area in Kyrgyzstan was established in 1948. According to the Government Decree on Priorities of Conservation of Biological Diversity and the relevant Action Plan for 2014-2024 the target area for the protected areas in Kyrgyzstan is 10 percent of the country’s area by 2024.

Karatal-Japyryk State Nature Reserve

The Karatal-Japyryk State Nature Reserve is located in Naryn Region of Kyrgyzstan. It was established in 1994 with a purpose of conservation of unique nature complexes, protection of rare and threatened species of flora and fauna of Central Tien-Shan, and maintain regional environmental balance. The reserve currently occupies 21,016 hectares and consists of 3 areas Song-Kul, Karatal-Achatash, and Chatyr-Kul. The Chatyr-Kul area of the nature reserve is a Ramsar site.

Teploklyuchenka Game Reserve is a protected area in Issyk Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. It was established in 1958 on the north slope of Teskey Ala-Too in a basin of Altyn Arashan river with a purpose of conservation of game animals and protection of natural mountain forests. The reserve covers 32.2 hectares.

Ken-Suu Game Reserve is a specially protected area located in Tup District of Issyk Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. It was established in 1990 to conserve and reproduce game animals including those listed in the Red Book. The game reserve's area is 8,712 hectares.

Altyn Arashan is a valley and mountain resort near Karakol and Issyk Kul Lake, northeastern Kyrgyzstan. It lies along the trekking route from Teploklyuchenka (Ak-Suu). It is a hot spring development set in an alpine valley, containing the 5020 metre Pik Palatka in its southern part. It is said to "include three groups of nitric thermals springs on the right side of the Arashan River, 20 km southeast of Karakol mountain, situated in a picturesque forest landscape at an altitude of 2350-2435 metres." The resort has numerous wooden sheds which contain hot sulfurous pools to cure various ailments. The resort is set in a botanical research area called the Arashan State Nature Reserve which has about 20 snow leopards and several bears.

Tyup Game Reserve is a protected area in Tup District of Issyk Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. It was established in 1976 in a basin of Tyup River to protect roe deer, boar, and Cervus elaphus. The reserve occupies 15,000 hectares.

Djergalchak Game Reserve is a specially protected area located in river basins of Big and Small Djergalchak of Jeti-Oguz District of Issyk Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. It was established in 1990 to conserve and reproduce game animals such as wild boar, Capreolus, wild goat, red deer, Turkestan lynx, Himalayan brown bear, snow leopard, golden eagle, bearded vulture, and so on. The reserve's area is 23,098 hectares.

Vashlovani Strict Nature Reserve

Vashlovani Strict Nature Reserve is a protected area in Dedoplistsqaro Municipality, Kakheti region of Georgia on Shiraqi mountain range and Georgian bank of Alazani River, at elevation 300-600 meters above sea level.

Karakol State Nature Park is a park in Ak-Suu District of Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan established in April 1997. The purpose of the park is conservation of the unique nature complexes, forests, and flora and fauna of special ecological and aesthetic value for beneficial combination of natural and cultural landscapes and their use for recreational, cultural and educational purposes. The area of the park is 38,256 hectares including 7,690 hectares of forests. The park is located in 6 km from the regional center Karakol and in 336 km from Bishkek.

Khan-Tengri State Nature Park

Khan-Tengri State Nature Park or Khan-Teniri State Nature Park is a park in Ak-Suu District of Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan established in February 2016. The purpose of the park is conservation of the unique nature complex and biodiversity, protection of rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, and extension of the network of specially protected areas of Kyrgyz Republic. The park is located in the easternmost part of Kyrgyzstan between mountain ranges Terskey Ala-Too and Kakshaal Too. The nature park is largely within Saryjaz river basin.
