Saugor Makronia railway station (Station Code :MKRN) is one of the important railway station of West Central Railway in Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh is a state in central India. Its capital is Bhopal, and the largest city is Indore, with Jabalpur, Gwalior,Ujjain and Sagar being the other major cities. Nicknamed the "Heart of India" due to its geographical location, Madhya Pradesh is the second largest Indian state by area and the fifth largest state by population with over 75 million residents. Konta is presently in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh state.
The railway station of Makronia lies on the main Bina–Katni rail route. To its north lies Saugor railway station and to its south lies Damoh Junction railway station.

Rail transport in Madhya Pradesh began from year 1903, with the introduction of Delhi-Chennai rail route through the state and Bhopal Junction railway station of Bhopal emerged as the major rail junction on this route. Since independence, the state has got a good rail connectivity with major railway zone called West Central Railway.
Itarsi Junction is a railway station in Hoshangabad District in Madhya Pradesh from which more than 345 trains passes everyday. It is the 8th busiest railway junction in India. It falls under the West Central Railway zone of Indian Railways network. It is located 18 kilometres (11 mi) away from Hoshangabad by train, and by road it is 20 kilometers. Trains from Central Railway undergo engine changes here i.e. electric engines of WAP/WAM/WAG class are changed to diesel engines of WDP/WDM/WDG class and vice versa. These changes happen for trains which pass through Jabalpur-Katni-Satna railway line and sometimes for trains which pass through Bhopal.
