Harsud railway station is a railway station, situated at Harsud, Madhya Pradesh. Its station code is HRD. It serves Harsud city. The station consists of two platforms, neither well sheltered. It lacks many facilities including water and sanitation. [1] Old station is presently defunct. Old Harsud station was submerged under the waters of the Indirasagar Dam in July 2004. Due to this the existing railway line between Itarsi Junction railway station(station code ET) & Khandwa Junction railway station(station code KNW) was abandoned & dismantled. A New 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) new line was laid & Harsud railway station(HRD) was shifted to new location increasing the distance by 14 kilometres (8.7 mi). Current distance between Itarsi Junction railway station(station code ET) & Khandwa Junction railway station(station code KNW) is 183 kilometres (114 mi), which was 169 kilometres (105 mi) before construction of Indirasagar Dam Reservoir in July 2004. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] The old railway line still exist from Talvadiya Junction railway station(station code TLV) to Singaji railway station(station code SJ) connecting Indirasagar Dam Thermal Power Station.

The Indira Sagar Dam is the largest dam in India, in terms of volume of water stored in the reservoir. Harsud was a town and municipality in Khandwa in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Although the town was more than 700 years old, it was submerged under the waters of the Indira Sagar dam in July 2004.

A cotton-ginning factory, the property of Raja Gokul Das, was opened in 1904. This is the nearest rail station and market for towns of Sagar district. Kareli is also educational hub for nearby area Schools like Govt. C.M.Rise School, Carmel School, Mahatma Gandhi College and many coaching institutes are situated. Agriculture based business are still doing well in the area like Kareli Sugar Mills, Dal Mills, there are many Tuar dal Mills in the city like Chacha Dal Mill, Oil plants like Shubham industries, Flour Mills like Malviya Mills, Jaggery Factories.

Khirkiya is a town and a nagar panchayat in Harda district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Khirkiya grain market is one of the biggest grain markets in madhya pradesh and also has record production and selling of grains. Navratri festival of Khirkiya is very famous in all over the country, so many beautiful pandals are created by samiti (community). In more than a dozen places, Durga statues are established. Even people from different cities come to celebrate the festival.

Itarsi Junction railway station is a junction railway station in Hoshangabad district in Madhya Pradesh from which more than 420 trains pass every day.
