The Seacoast Packing Company is a historic packing house in Beaufort, South Carolina that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. Also known as Peninsular Canning Company/Pig Factory and as Pickle Factory, it was built by Brooks Engineering. [2] [3] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. [1]

Fort Macon State Park is a North Carolina state park in Carteret County, North Carolina, in the United States. Located on Bogue Banks near Atlantic Beach, the park opened in 1936. Fort Macon State Park is the second most visited state park in North Carolina, with an annual visitation of 1.3 million, despite being one of the smallest state parks in North Carolina with 424 acres (1.72 km2). Fort Macon was built as part of the Third System of US fortifications, and was preceded by Fort Hampton of the Second System.
Daufuskie Island, located between Hilton Head Island and Savannah, is the southernmost inhabited sea island in South Carolina. It is 5 miles (8 km) long by almost 2.5 miles (4.0 km) wide – approximate surface area of 8 square miles (21 km2). With over 3 miles (5 km) of beachfront, Daufuskie is surrounded by the waters of Calibogue Sound, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. Fort Frederick Heritage Preserve is a 3-acre (12,000 m2) property located in Port Royal, South Carolina. Situated along the Beaufort River, the preserve contains the remains of Fort Frederick. Also known as Fort Prince Frederick, the tabby fort was built by the British between 1730 and 1734 to defend against a possible attack from the Spanish at St. Augustine, Florida. It was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Haig Point Range Lights were range lights on Calibogue Sound at the northeastern end of Daufuskie Island in Beaufort County, South Carolina. The Haig Point Range Lights were built in 1873 and were maintained as an official aid to navigation until about 1924. The Rear Range Light house has been restored. It is a guest house for the Haig Point Club and serves as a private aid to navigation.

Chester Field, located in Beaufort County, South Carolina, is one of the nearly two dozen prehistoric shell rings that run from the center coast of South Carolina to the central coast of Georgia. Archaeologists date the pottery that has been found at these sites to be in the second millennium BC, this placing the artifacts among the earliest pottery of North America. The purpose or use of the ring shape is not known. This “address restricted” site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1970.

In the 18th century and early into the 19th century, the land was primarily used for military purposes. In the late 19th century, the "phosphate period" followed the military period. Shipbuilding became important in the early 20th century. The Fort Lyttleton Site was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on September 13, 1979.
