The Sfinks festival is a Belgian festival for world music at Boechout, Belgium. The festival is held during the last weekend in July.
The festival was originally held (1975–1994) in a local school park. In 1982 the festival featured exotic music for the first time which changed its appearance forever. In 1992 and 1994, Friday and Thursday were added to the festival to accommodate the expanding program. In 1994, the venue was changed to a larger site, the 'Molenveld' in Boechout to accommodate the larger crowds. The festival currently receives about 40,000 visitors and over 40 bands each year. Since some years the festival has shrunk again to three days.

Bongo Flava is a nickname for Tanzanian music. The genre developed in the 1990s, mainly as a derivative of American hip hop and traditional Tanzanian styles such as taarab and dansi, with additional influences from reggae, R&B, and afrobeats, to form a unique style of music. Lyrics are usually in Swahili or English, although increasingly from mid 2000s there has been limited use of words from Sub-Saharan African music traditions due to the influence of Afrobeats and Kwaito with their dynamics usage of West African Pidgin English, Nigerian Pidgin or other Creole language.

When some albums and some categorical evidence of his knowledge of the classical approach laid these malicious comments bare, then came the most twisted condemnations. That the pace of the compás waned, that he didn't really make you feel and that kind of thing."
