Shadrack Kiptoo Biwott (born February 15, 1985, in Kenya) is a Kenyan-born American long-distance runner. [1]
Biwott grew up in Eldoret in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya and moved to the United States in 2002 to attend La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. [2] On November 8, 2003, he placed first in the state with a time of 15:23.00 at the New Mexico State Cross Country Championships. [3]
Biwott graduated from the University of Oregon where he was an multiple time All-American. [4] [5]
Biwott was an athlete of the Year for cross country lead the Oregon Ducks to an impressive group of five Men of Oregon All-Americans returning for the defending NCAA Division 1 national team champion in 2008.
Biwott earned 2007 cross country honors and was named the Pac-10 Athlete of the Year for winning his first Pac-10 xc title.
Biwott debut at 2007 Stanford Cardinal track and field Invitational earning an NCAA provisional mark in 10,000 meters in 29:00.52.

After graduating from Oregon, Biwott signed to train on the track under coach Mark Rowland led Oregon Track Club until 2012. [15] [16]
Biwott became a U.S. citizen and moved to Folsom in 2012. [17]
Biwott was the USATF Running Circuit champion in 2013, finishing on the podium (top 3) in his five races in the Circuit: 2nd at the USA Half Marathon Championships, 3rd at the USA 10K Championships, 2nd at the USA 20K Championships, 3rd at the USA Marathon Championships and 2nd at the US National Road Racing Championships [18]
Biwott placed 3rd in 2013 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon in Minnesota in 2:13:26.
Biwott was sponsored by ASICS in 2014.
Biwott competed at the 2014 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships where he finished 39th. [19]
Biwott placed 14th in 2:12:55 at 2014 BMW Frankfurt Marathon.
Biwott placed 7th at the Los Angeles U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon in 2:15:23. [20]

The Oregon Ducks are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the University of Oregon, located in Eugene. The Ducks compete at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level as a member of the Big Ten Conference. With eighteen varsity teams, Oregon is best known for its American football team and track and field program, which has helped Eugene gain a reputation as "Track Town, USA". Ryan Hall is a retired American long-distance runner who holds the U.S. record in the half marathon. With his half marathon record time (59:43), he became the first U.S. runner to break the one-hour barrier in the event. He is also the only American to run a sub-2:05 marathon. However, this time is not eligible to be a record due to the course being point-to-point and a net-downhill course. Hall won the marathon at the 2008 United States Olympic trials and placed tenth in the Olympic marathon in Beijing.
Jordan Melissa Hogan is an American distance runner. She attended Mission College Preparatory High School in San Luis Obispo and was unanimously selected 2008 Girls High School Athlete of the Year by the voting panel at Track and Field News. In March 2009, she became the ninth high school athlete and third woman on the cover of Track and Field News magazine.
Galen Rupp is an American long-distance runner. He competed in the Summer Olympics in 2008 in Beijing, 2012 in London, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro and 2021 in Tokyo. He won the silver medal in the men's 10,000 meters in London and the bronze medal in the men's marathon in Rio de Janeiro. Rupp competed for the University of Oregon and trained under Alberto Salazar as a member of the Nike Oregon Project. He won the 2017 Chicago Marathon, becoming the first American to do so since Khalid Khannouchi in 2002. Rupp won the marathon at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials in Atlanta with a time of 2:09:20, and qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, where he finished eighth.
The Cardiff Half Marathon is an annual half marathon race held in the Welsh capital city of Cardiff, taking place in October. The event was established in 2003, initially alongside the Cardiff Marathon, however, due to the increasing popularity of the Half Marathon, the Marathon distance was dropped after 2006. The race was originally organised by the children’s charity Barnardo’s. Now organised by Run 4 Wales, the race has grown to accommodate up to 27,500 runners.
Shalane Grace Flanagan is an American long-distance runner, coach, Olympic medalist and New York City Marathon champion. She was the first American woman to win the New York City Marathon since 1977. She holds the NACAC area records in both the 10k and 15k road races.
Sally Jepkosgei Kipyego is a Kenyan-born American long- and middle-distance runner. She was the silver medalist in the 10,000 metres at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics and the silver medalist in the same race at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She has a personal record of 30:38.35 minutes for that event and her 5000 metres best of 14:30.42 minutes makes her the second fastest Kenyan woman for the distance.
The Hansons-Brooks Distance Project is an Olympic development program for post-collegiate distance runners. The program was founded by brothers Kevin Hanson and Keith Hanson in Rochester Hills, Michigan in 1999, and joined by Brooks Sports as a sponsor in 2003. It has produced a number of notable professional runners. The Hanson brothers also operate four stores for runners in the Metro Detroit area. The program is coached by Keith Hanson, Kevin Hanson, and Don Jackson.

Samuel Chelanga is a Kenyan-born American track and field athlete who competed for Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, from 2008 to 2011. He set the NCAA record for the 10,000 meters run with a time of 27:08.49 set at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Palo Alto, California, on May 1, 2010. His brother, Joshua Chelanga, is a professional marathon runner.
Desiree "Des" Nicole Linden is an American long-distance runner, author, and podcaster. She represented the United States in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics women's marathon. In 2018, she won the Boston Marathon, becoming the first American in 33 years to win the woman's category in the event. She holds the women's 50K world record of 2:59:54.
Matthew Centrowitz Jr. is an American middle-distance runner, who specializes in the 1500 metres. He won a gold medal in the event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Raevyn Rogers is an American middle-distance athlete. She won a bronze medal in the 800 meters at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, becoming the fourth fastest woman in U.S. history in the event. At the 2019 World Championships, Rogers came from seventh with 100m remaining in the race to place silver over USA teammate Ajeé Wilson in bronze. She earned a world indoor title as a member of national 4x400 m relay squad that took gold at the 2018 World Indoor Championships.
Leonard Essau Korir is an American long-distance runner who competes over distances from 5000 meters to the marathon. He is a two-time NCAA champion, winning an indoor 5000 m title and outdoor 10,000 meters title in 2011 for the Iona Gaels. He gained United States citizenship and began competing for his adoptive nation in 2016.
