Shake, Rattle & Roll (SRR) is a Filipino horror anthology film series produced by Regal Entertainment, and formerly Athena Productions. It is the longest-running film series in the Philippines. The series consists of 16 films, each containing three horror shorts that tackles Philippine mythological creatures and other monsters. All films of the series were official entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival, with the exception of the sixth and sixteenth installments, which premiered in January 1997 and November 2023 respectively. [1] The title is based on the song of the same name.
The first installment was released in 1984 under the defunct Athena Productions, while all the succeeding installments are produced by Regal Entertainment.
As of 2024 [update] , there are sixteen installments of the film series, with the latest installment, Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme , [2] released on November 29, 2023. It is directed by Richard V. Somes, Jerrold Tarog, and Joey de Guzman, and stars Iza Calzado, Jane Oineza, and Jane de Leon. [3] [4]

Episodes of the Shake, Rattle & Roll films were aired in ABS-CBN, as part of the channel's Shake, Rattle & Roll: Sabado Special block every Saturday. [1]
A full-length remake of the "Pridyider" episode was released on September 19, 2012, and was directed by Rico Maria Ilarde.
An unofficial graphic novel adaptation of the second film was published on January 1, 2016. Titled Shake, Rattle & Roll: Kahindik-hindik na Klasikong Katatakutan, it features the three stories that were adapted from the film. It was created by authors Adam David, Carljoe Javier, Mervin Malonzo, and Noel Pascual.
Subjects and themes used in Shake, Rattle & Roll include Filipino supernatural beings (e.g. aswangs, tiyanaks, engkantos, etc.), superstitions, urban legends, cults and demonic possessions. Almost all of the films took place in the Christmas season. While films of the series usually premiere in that season, only the "Christmas Tree" episode of Shake, Rattle and Roll 9 had Christmas-related content. [1]

Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme is a 2023 Filipino horror anthology film produced by Regal Entertainment, and the sixteenth installment of the Shake, Rattle & Roll film series after a 9-year hiatus since the fifteenth film. It is directed by Jerrold Tarog, Joey de Guzman and Richard Somes. It stars an ensemble cast top-billed by Iza Calzado, Jane de Leon, and Jane Oineza. It is the second Shake, Rattle & Roll film that is not part of the Metro Manila Film Festival since the sixth film in 1997. Salas and Calzado returned to the franchise after 18 and 17 years of the former appeared in the seventh film and the latter appeared in the eighth film.
