Sir Cuthbert Gordon Greenidge is a Barbadian retired cricketer who represented the West Indies in Test and One-day Cricket for 17 years,as well as Barbados and Hampshire in first-class cricket. Greenidge is regarded worldwide as one of the greatest and most destructive opening batsmen in cricket history. In 2009,Greenidge was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. He was a member of the squads which won the 1975 Cricket World Cup,1979 Cricket World Cup and come runners-up in the 1983 Cricket World Cup.

He has also effectively stood as stand-in-captain in place of Jason Holder in seven test matches before becoming the permanent captain of the test team taking over from Holder. In August 2019,Cricket West Indies named him as the Test Player of the Year and on 14 April 2021,Holder was named one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year. Holder is the first West Indian male cricketer to take a hat-trick in a T20I,and the fifth,to achieve both 2000 runs and 100 wickets in one day internationals. He is also the second West Indian,after Sir Garfield Sobers,to attain both 2500 runs and 150 wickets in test match cricket. Holder was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup.
Carlos Ricardo Brathwaite is a cricketer from Barbados and a former captain of the West Indies Twenty20 International (T20I) team. He was a key member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup,and his most notable innings was when he helped the team to win the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 Final with an innings of 34 not-out off 10 balls. Brathwaite hit the winning six to help the West Indies clinch their second T20 world title.

The England cricket team toured the West Indies between January and March 2019 to play three Tests,five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The series included England's first Test match in Saint Lucia,when they played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. It was also England's first tour to the West Indies to play all three formats of international cricket since they visited in 2009. The ODI fixtures were part of both teams' preparation for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
The India cricket team toured the West Indies and the United States during August and September 2019 to play two Tests,three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The tour started with two of the T20I matches played at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill,Florida. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. The fixtures were confirmed in June 2019.
The Afghanistan cricket team played the West Indies cricket team in India in November and December 2019 to play one Test,three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. It was the first Test match that Afghanistan played against the West Indies. The two teams had played each other ten times before,with the majority of matches in the Caribbean,with this being Afghanistan's fourth Test match. All the matches were played at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The T20Is formed part of both teams' preparations for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup,while the Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. In May 2022,Cricket Australia confirmed the fixtures for the tour.
The Ireland cricket team toured the West Indies in January 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches and a one-off Twenty20 International (T20I) match. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. On 6 December 2021,the full schedule for the tour was confirmed by both cricket boards. Ireland last toured the West Indies in January 2020. Prior to the series,the Irish team were scheduled to play five white ball matches against the United States in Florida. However,the ODI matches were cancelled due to COVID-19 cases within the squads.
