Sherlock & Daughter is an upcoming mystery television series created by Brendan Foley, and based on the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It will air on The CW and Discovery+.

Synopsis

Sherlock Holmes becomes embroiled in a malevolent conspiracy involving his archenemy Professor Moriarty, and ends up joining forces with Amelia Rojas, a young American woman whose mother was recently murdered. As they work together to crack the case, Amelia comes to suspect that the great detective might be her long lost father.

Production

The series was announced in February 2024, along with the casting of Thewlis, Hunt and Scott. [3] The series was created by Brendan Foley, who will act as executive producer alongside showrunner James Duff. Micah Wright, Shelly Goldstein, and Foley will provide the scripts. [4]

Filming took place in Dublin in April 2024, with North Great George's Street being used for exterior shooting. [5] Filming also occurred in County Wicklow. [6]

The series will consist of eight hour long episodes, all directed by Bryn Higgins. [1]

Release

Sherlock & Daughter is due to air on January 1, 2025. [8] It will be broadcast by The CW in the US, whilst Discovery+ will air the series in the UK and Ireland. [9]

Internationally, the series will be broadcast by Yle and Amedia in Finland, NRK in Norway, DR in Denmark, SVT in Sweden, RÚV in Iceland, and SBS in Australia. [1]

The stories of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle have been very popular as adaptations for the stage, and later film, and still later television. Sherlock Holmes has long been a popular character for pastiche, Holmes-related work by authors and creators other than Arthur Conan Doyle. Their works can be grouped into four broad categories:

Sherlock Hound is an Italian-Japanese anime television series produced by RAI and Tokyo Movie Shinsha. Based on the character Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, almost all the characters are depicted as anthropomorphic dogs. The show featured regular appearances of Jules Verne-steampunk style technology, adding a 19th-century science-fiction atmosphere to the series. It consists of 26 episodes and aired between 1984 and 1985.

Imagination Theatre is an American syndicated radio drama program airing on AM & FM radio stations across the United States. It features modern radio dramas. The program first aired in 1996. Originally produced by Jim French Productions, the program is now produced by Aural Vision, LLC.

<i>Sherlock</i> (TV series) British mystery crime drama television series (2010–2017)

Sherlock is a British mystery crime drama television series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the show stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. In its title and basic premise, it is very similar to a 1987 TV movie, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, but the plot details of the two films are quite different.

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter is an adventure mystery video game in the Sherlock Holmes series developed by Frogwares for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016. It was released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 25 October, while the PC version was released earlier on June 10. A Nintendo Switch version was released on April 7, 2022.

Blu Farias Hunt is an American actress. She is best known for her roles as Inadu/The Hollow in The CW supernatural drama series The Originals (2017) and as August Catawnee in the Netflix science fiction drama series Another Life (2019–2021).

<i>Enola Holmes 2</i> 2022 mystery film by Harry Bradbeer

Enola Holmes 2 is a 2022 mystery film and the sequel to the 2020 film Enola Holmes, both of which star Millie Bobby Brown as the title character, the teenage sister of the already-famous Victorian-era detective Sherlock Holmes. The film is directed by Harry Bradbeer from a screenplay by Jack Thorne that adapts the book series The Enola Holmes Mysteries by Nancy Springer. Unlike the film's predecessor, it does not adapt one of Springer's novels and instead takes real-life inspiration from the 1888 matchgirls' strike. In addition to Brown, Henry Cavill, Louis Partridge, Susie Wokoma, Adeel Akhtar, and Helena Bonham Carter reprise their supporting roles, while David Thewlis and Sharon Duncan-Brewster join the cast.
