Singaporandia macrophylla(Hook.f.) K.M.Wong [1] is a small tree of the family Rubiaceae. It is the only species in the genus Singaporandia. It occurs in lowland dipterocarp forest in Malaysia, Thailand and Sumatra. [2]

The genus name of Singaporandia refers to Singapore, where the plant was first found and also Isaac Rand (1674–1743), who was an English botanist and apothecary, who was a lecturer and director at the Chelsea Physic Garden, London. [3]

The genus and species were circumscribed by Khoon Meng Wong in Sandakania vol.21 on pages 53 and 54 in 2016. [2]

Rothmannia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae. It was described in 1776 and is named for Göran Rothman (1739–1778) by Thunberg – both were pupils of Linnaeus.

Ridsdalea is an Asian genus of plants in the family Rubiaceae; it was named after Dr. Colin Ernest Ridsdale (1944–2017), who was an English botanist and specialist in tropical plants and the Rubiaceae family. The type species is Ridsdalea grandis(Korth.) J.T.Pereira, which was renamed from the basionym Gardenia grandis. Geoffrey Howorth Spencer Wood was an English botanist. He obtained an MA in botany and forestry from Oxford University in 1952. In 1954 he became Curator at the Sandakan Herbarium in present-day Sabah. His main area of interest was trees in the family Dipterocarpaceae. He died in 1957 from injuries suffered in a fuel explosion on a botanical expedition in the Andulau Hills of Brunei.
