Sitting volleyball is a form of volleyball for athletes with a disability organized by World ParaVolley. As opposed to standing volleyball, sitting volleyball players must sit on the floor to play.
The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad and branded as Paris 2024, were an international multi-sport event held from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in France, with several events started from 24 July. Paris was the host city, with events held in 16 additional cities spread across metropolitan France, including the sailing centre in the second-largest city of France, Marseille, on the Mediterranean Sea, as well as one subsite for surfing in Tahiti, French Polynesia.
Volleyball at the Summer Paralympics was first held in 1976, when the traditional form of standing volleyball for men was contested and sitting volleyball for men was a demonstration sport. From 1980 through 2000, men's standing and sitting events were contested. The women's sitting volleyball event was introduced in 2004.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, having become independent from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1992, made its Paralympic Games début at the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, with merely two athletes competing in men's track and field. The country has competed in every edition of the Summer Paralympics since then, and made its Winter Paralympics début at the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, with a single representative in alpine skiing.

The 2024 Summer Paralympics, also known as the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, and branded as Paris 2024, were the 17th Summer Paralympic Games, an international multi-sport parasports event governed by the International Paralympic Committee. The Iran men's national sitting volleyball team represents the Islamic Republic of Iran in international sitting volleyball competitions and friendly matches. The team is one of the dominant forces on the court worldwide. In foreign media, team Iran is colloquially known as the dream team of sitting volleyball.
Morteza Mehrzadselakjani, often referred to as Morteza Mehrzad, is an Iranian volleyball player who plays on the Iran men's national sitting volleyball team. With a height of 2.46 m, he also holds the record for the longest hand in the world with a size of 29 cm. He is known as the tallest living man in Iran and the second tallest living man in the world. He won three gold medals at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, 2020 Summer Paralympics and 2024 Summer Paralympics, is two-time World Para Volleyball champion, three-time gold medalist at the Asian Games with Iran men's national sitting volleyball team, and three-time winner of the Golden Ball award for the best player.
The volleyball tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris were held from 27 July to 11 August 2024. 24 volleyball teams and 48 beach volleyball teams participated in the tournament. Indoor volleyball competitions occurred at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles with the beach volleyball tournament staged at the Eiffel Tower Stadium in Champ de Mars.

The 2024 African Sitting Volleyball Championships – Women's tournament was held in Lagos, Nigeria. The winners qualify for the 2024 Summer Paralympics. Rwanda are the three-time defending champions. Rwanda won the competition and qualified for the Paralympics after a 3–0 over Kenya.
The 2024 Men's Sitting Volleyball Paralympic Final Qualification Tournament was held in Dali, China. The winners qualify for the 2024 Summer Paralympics. Ukraine won the event and qualified for the 2024 Summer Paralympics after triumphing over United States 3–0 in the final.
The 2024 Women's Sitting Volleyball Paralympic Final Qualification Tournament was held in Dali, China. The winners qualify for the 2024 Summer Paralympics. Slovenia won the event and qualified for the 2024 Summer Paralympics after winning all their games and defeating Iran 3–2 in the final.
