Judo at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France will take place between 5 and 7 September. There will be eight events for both men and women according to their weight categories and, for the first time, their disability class. [1]

Qualification

World Ranking List starts from 1 September 2022 to 24 June 2024. An NPC can enter an eligible athlete if the athlete has competed in at least one international sanctioned IBSA competition. [2] [3]

The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) is a non-profit organisation founded 1981 in Paris, France. It was formerly known as the International Blind Sports Association. B3 is a medical based Paralympic classification for blind sport. Competitors in this classification have partial sight, with visual acuity from 2/60 to 6/60. It is used by a number of blind sports including para-alpine skiing, para-Nordic skiing, blind cricket, blind golf, five-a-side football, goalball and judo. Some other sports, including adaptive rowing, athletics and swimming, have equivalents to this class.

Para judo is an adaptation of the Japanese martial art of judo for visually impaired competitors. The rules of the sport are only slightly different from regular judo competitions. It has been part of the Summer Paralympics program since 1988 for men and 2004 for women.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Judo at the 2016 Summer Paralympics</span> Judo competition

The Judo competition of the 2016 Summer Paralympics was held in Hall 3 at the Carioca Arena inside the Olympic Training Center in Barra cluster between 8 and 10 September. There were 13 events, corresponding to seven weight classes for men and six for women, and a total of 132 athletes will compete. At the Paralympics, judo is contested by visually impaired athletes.

The 2015 IBSA Judo European Championships were held in Odivelas, Portugal, from 25–30 November 2015. It was held at the Multiusos Sports Hall in the city. The championship was the 13th to be held and was the last event whereby European athletes could collect points for qualification to the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio. Each country could send a maximum of two competitors per eight division. The competition is open to all classification of visually impaired athlete, who compete against each other.

The IBSA European Judo Championships is an event organized by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA). It is a paralympic judo competition, that is judo for visually impaired athletes. Organised biennially, the competition is not run during years when the IBSA World Judo Championships or the Summer Paralympics are contested.

The IBSA World Games or World Blind Games are an international multi-sport event, occurring every four years, organized by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA). The events enable blind and partially sighted athletes to compete in a number of sports. The first event took place at Madrid, Spain in 1998.
