The liner notes to Smells Like Bleach were written by Dave Thompson. In it, he describes Smells Like Bleach as Nirvana's "first ever tribute album." In actual fact, the tribute album Smells Like Nirvana: A Tribute to Nirvana was released before Smells Like Bleach (6 June 2000).
In the seventh paragraph, Thompson writes that "if the Hall of Fame has not collapsed beneath the weight of its own oxymoronic irrelevance by then, watch for Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl to be invited out to Cleveland sometime around the year 2017."
Artists become eligible for induction into the performers category of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twenty-five years after the releases of their first records. Thompson was postulating that Nirvana would be indicted in 2017 because 2017 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Nirvana's second studio album, Nevermind , reaching number one on the Billboard charts (11 January 1992). [1] But, since their first studio album, "Bleach" , was released 15 June 1989, the first year Nirvana was actually eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame was 2014. As it so turns out, Nirvana was indeed inducted into the Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility (10 April 2014), and the induction ceremony was held Brooklyn, New York, at the Barclays Center, not Cleveland. David Eric Grohl is an American musician. He is the founder of the rock band Foo Fighters, for which he is the lead singer, guitarist, and principal songwriter. Prior to forming Foo Fighters, he was the drummer of rock band Nirvana from 1990 to 1994.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is a song by the American rock band Nirvana. It is the opening track and lead single from the band's second album, Nevermind (1991), released on DGC Records. The unexpected success of the song propelled Nevermind to the top of several albums charts at the start of 1992, an event often marked as the point when grunge entered the mainstream. It was Nirvana's biggest hit, charting high on music industry charts around the world in 1991 and 1992, and was number one on the charts in Belgium, France, New Zealand and Spain. It was met with wide critical acclaim, and described as an "anthem for apathetic kids" of Generation X. Although Nirvana grew uncomfortable with the mainstream and commercial attention the song brought to them, listeners and critics continue to praise "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as one of the greatest songs of all time.
Nevermind is the second album by the American rock band Nirvana, released on September 24, 1991, by DGC Records. It was Nirvana's first release on a major label and the first to feature drummer Dave Grohl. Produced by Butch Vig, Nevermind features a more polished, radio-friendly sound than the band's prior work. It was recorded at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California, and Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin in May and June 1991, and mastered that August at the Mastering Lab in Hollywood, California.
Incesticide is a compilation album by the American rock band Nirvana. It consists of their 1990 non-album single "Sliver", B-sides, demos, outtakes, cover versions, and radio broadcast recordings, and as such is not the official follow-up to the band's breakthrough album, Nevermind. The album was released on December 14, 1992, in Europe, and December 15, 1992, in the United States. It eventually reached number 39 on the Billboard 200.
Chad Channing is an American musician who is best known as the former drummer of the rock band Nirvana from 1988 to 1990, during which time they recorded and released their debut album Bleach; he also appears on "Polly" in the follow-up album Nevermind. He currently sings and plays bass in the band Before Cars.
With the Lights Out is a box set by the American rock band Nirvana, released on November 23, 2004. It contains three CDs and one DVD of previously rare or unreleased material, including B-sides, demos, and rehearsal and live recordings. The title comes from the lyrics of Nirvana's 1991 single "Smells Like Teen Spirit". The box set was planned for release in 2001, but was delayed by a legal battle with Courtney Love, the widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain. As of 2016, With the Lights Out had sold 546,000 copies in the US.

It is the final listed song on the album, although most copies of Nevermind also feature the hidden track "Endless, Nameless", which occupies the same track as "Something in the Way" and begins after approximately 10 minutes of silence.

A parody of Nirvana's song "Smells Like Teen Spirit", it was released as the lead single from Yankovic's Off the Deep End album in April 1992. "Smells Like Nirvana" was written during a three-year career low for Yankovic after the financial failure of his film UHF, but captured the quickly-rising popularity of grunge and Nirvana's success. The song was written to ridicule the fact that many people could hardly understand Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain's lyrics in the original song. After being unable to contact Nirvana conventionally, Yankovic called Cobain while the band was on the set of Saturday Night Live, where Cobain quickly gave permission to record the parody.

Doused in Mud, Soaked in Bleach is a tribute album to Nirvana's 1989 debut album, Bleach, performed by various artists. The album was released by Robotic Empire for Record Store Day on April 16, 2016. It also concludes a series Robotic Empire Nirvana tribute albums, which also includes 2014's In Utero, in Tribute, in Entirety and Whatever Nevermind.
