Snow Mountain is a mountain in Northern California in the Snow Mountain Wilderness of Mendocino National Forest, hence the name Snow Mountain. [3]

Geography

The highest point on the mountain, known as Snow Mountain East, is the highest point in both Colusa and Lake counties. Snow Mountain West, a subsidiary peak also near the county line, [4] is 0.58 miles (0.93 km) to the southwest at an elevation of 7,043 feet (2,147 m). [5] [6]

Despite being exposed to snow environment, the mountain receive plenty of sunlight hence the evergreen lush and vegetation which is never affected by snow. [7]

On clear days, the peak should be seen from Mount Diablo, and from several peaks, including Mount Saint Helena and Mount Konocti, in the Mayacamas Mountains. The peaks are visible from Arbuckle on Interstate 5 in California's Central Valley. [8] The summits and nearby high mountains get snowfall in winter. [9] The mountain's winter snowpack can last until June. [8]

It is quite visible from State Routes 89 and 28, and U.S. Route 50. A "cross of snow" is clearly visible on the mountain's face during the winter, spring, and early summer months.

Mount Ireland is a mountain in Grant County of the U.S. state of Oregon. It is about 5 miles (8 km) east-northeast of Granite, Oregon. It is the shortest and westernmost 8000'+ peak in the Elkhorn Range of the Blue Mountains at 8,321 feet (2,536 m), and Oregon's 71st highest peak with at least a 500' clean prominence. For a period of several years, this mountain peak was referred to as Bald Mountain, but in 1917 it was changed to Ireland Mountain—in commemoration of the late Henry Ireland, who for 10 years was supervisor of the Whitman National Forest in which the mountain is located—before formally becoming known as Mount Ireland. The name change was brought about by a cooperative effort of local citizens and the US Forest Service to honor Henry Ireland, who had died in 1916.

Kent Peak is a summit in the U.S. state of Idaho, with an elevation of 7,243 feet (2,208 m).

The Anthracite Range is a mountain range in the West Elk Mountains, a sub-range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The range is located in Gunnison County of western Colorado and lies within the West Elk Wilderness of the Gunnison National Forest. The Anthracite Range is one of several prominent laccoliths found in the West Elk Mountains.
