Busia is a county in the former Western Province of Kenya. It is located directly east of the border town of Busia,Uganda,and borders Lake Victoria to the southwest,Siaya County to the southeast,and Bungoma County and Kakamega County to the east. The county is composed of six sub-counties,and had a population of 893,681 as of the most recent census in 2019.

Otuoma Paul Nyongesa is a Kenyan politician. He was a member of Orange Democratic Movement until 21 April 2017 when he tendered his resignation. He was elected to represent the Funyula Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election and was the minister for the Local Government from 2010-2013. He was a member of Parliament for Funyula Constituency until August 2017 when he contested for gubernatorial seat for Busia County against his rival Sospeter Ojamoong but failed. Otuoma was born on 15 September 1966. He attended Khalsa primary school in Nairobi,Eastleigh High School in Nairobi from 1981 to 1984,and then went to Nairobi School from 1985 to 1986. Otuoma is a veterinarian by training,holding a Bachelor's of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nairobi (1991),where he also earned an MBA in 2001. He is married with 5 children.
Peter Anyang' Nyong'o,politically known as Anyang' Nyong'o,is a Kenyan politician and author who is the Governor of Kisumu County. He is a former Secretary-General of Orange Democratic Movement. Professor Nyong'o was the acting party leader from March 11 until late May when Raila Odinga was in the United States and was elected to the National Assembly of Kenya in the December 2007 parliamentary election,representing the Kisumu Rural Constituency. He was the Minister for Medical Services and previously the Minister for Planning &National Development. He previously served as the Senator of Kisumu from 2013 to 2017.
Gerald Otieno Kajwang was a Kenyan politician. He belonged to the Orange Democratic Movement and was elected to represent the Mbita Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya in the December 2007 parliamentary election. In the bitterly contested 2013 elections,Otieno Kajwang was elected to represent Homa Bay County in the Senate of Kenya. Upon his death,his brother,Moses Otieno Kajwang won the election to succeed him in Parliament,representing Homa Bay.

Reliable sources says that He will be contesting for the Kericho County Gubernatorial seat in 2022,seeking to succeed Prof. Paul chepkwony.
Joseph Lemasolai Lekuton is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and was elected to represent the Laisamis Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election and reelected in 2013. He was not elected in 2017,but returned in 2022. He joined Kenya Kwanza after being elected in the 2022 general election.
Aden Keynan Wehliye is a Member of the National Assembly of Kenya. He served Wajir West constituency from 1997 to 2002 and 2007 to 2013. He then moved to Eldas constituency which was carved from Wajir West. Keynan served as the MP of Eldas in the 11th and 12th parliaments. He represented the Orange Democratic Movement until 2017 when he switched to the Jubilee Party. Keynan was re-elected on the Jubilee ticket in the 2022 elections. He is the longest-serving MP of the 13th Parliament of Kenya.
Amagoro Constituency was an electoral constituency in Kenya's former Western Province. It was the only constituency in the now-defunct Teso District. Sospeter Ojaamong represented the constituency for the Orange Democratic Movement in the National Assembly,and did so since 2002. In the 2007 general election,he was challenged by Gabriel Obasie of the recently created Party of National Unity.
Local elections were held in Busia County to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. Under the new constitution,which was passed in a 2010 referendum,the 2013 general elections were the first in which Governors and members of the County Assemblies for the newly created counties were elected. They will also be the first general elections run by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) which has released the official list of candidates.

Mutua is the only woman to vie for the gubernatorial race in Busia during the 2022 general election. If she had won,she would have become the first woman governor in Busia county.
Ruth Busia Adhiambo Odinga is a Kenyan politician and the women's representative for Kisumu County in the National Assembly. She is a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). She is the daughter to Jaramogi Odinga,the first vice president of Kenya,and the sister of both former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Oburu Odinga,the serving Senator for Siaya County.
