Marta Domínguez finished in first position in the 3000 metres steeplechase in 2009 World Athletics Championship held in Berlin ahead Yuliya Zarudneva from Russia and Milcah Chemos Cheywa of Kenya, but she was disqualified and stripped her gold medal in November 2015 .The Court of Arbitration for Sport found Domínguez guilty of an anti-doping rule violation and ordered that all competitive results obtained by Domínguez from 5 August 2009 be disqualified. . Jesús Ángel García Bragado finished in third position in the 50km walk race in the 2009 World Athletics Championship held in Berlin behind Sergey Kirdyapkin of Russia and Trond Nymark of Norway. On January 15, 2015, Kirdyapkin's results were disqualified for doping violations [3] so Jesús Ángel García Bragado was awarded with the silver medal.
Ruth Beitia finished in third position (shared with Anna Chicherova of Russia) in the high jump in the 2013 World Championships held in Moscow behind Svetlana Shkolina of Russia and Brigetta Barrett of the United States. Shkolina was disqualified for doping violation and Ruth Beitia was awarded with the silver medal.
Miguel Ángel López finished in third position in the 20km walk in the 2013 World Championships held in Moscow behind Aleksandr Ivanov of Russia and Chen Ding of the China. Ivanov was disqualified for doping violation and Miguel Ángel López was awarded with the silver medal.

Marta Domínguez Azpeleta is a Spanish former runner and politician. She competes mainly in the steeplechase. She has represented Spain four times at the Olympics and has competed at the World Championships on six occasions.

The World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships is a racewalking event organised by World Athletics. It has been held since 1961, and generally on a biennial basis. The first women's edition of the event happened in 1979. It was formerly known as the Lugano Cup after the city that hosted the first event, then became the IAAF World Race Walking Cup until 2016 and then IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships until 2018. In 2004, a junior division was added for athletes between 16 and 20. Since 2008 it has been a constituent meeting of the World Athletics Challenge – Race Walking.
The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. Sergey Alexandrovich Kirdyapkin is a Russian race walker. He was stripped of the 2012 Olympic gold medal in the 50K walk, by decision of the Court of Arbitration published 24 March 2016, due to doping violations. Due to these doping violations, he was given a three-year-and-two-month ban from athletic competition, backdated to 15 October 2012, allowing him time to still qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics. However, Russia did not compete in athletics at the 2016 Olympics, due to the suspension of the governing body, the IAAF, due to widespread doping.
Olga Nikolayevna Kaniskina is a Russian coach and former race walker. She won the silver medal in the 20 km walk at the 2006 European Championships, the gold medal at the 2007 World Championships, and the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She also won the 20 km walk at the 2008 IAAF World Race Walking Cup, setting a Championship record of 1:25:42. She was disqualified from several years of competition due to doping.

The current silver medalist, Tatyana Tomashova, had served a two-year doping ban (2008–2010) for manipulating samples and was banned after the Olympics for failing another drug test; and the 7th-place finisher Natallia Kareiva and the 9th-place finisher Yekaterina Kostetskaya were later disqualified after being found guilty of doping.

Viktor Mikhailovich Chegin is a banned Russian racewalking coach. He was responsible for training all three athletes who swept the medals at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics: Olga Kaniskina, Valeriy Borchin and Sergey Kirdyapkin. His athletes Elena Lashmanova and Sergey Kirdyapkin won gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics, with Kaniskina earning a silver medal. Former and banned world record holders Lashmanova, Denis Nizhegorodov and Sergey Morozov are all coached by Chegin.
