President of Peru Dina Boluarte pays a state visit to China to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during June 25, 2024 to June 29, 2024. The visit resulted in the signing of a number of China-Peru cooperation agreements, and the two sides expect China to bring more new technologies into Peru and make the cooperation between China and Peru a model of China-Latin America cooperation. In May 2024, the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of Peru Andrés Alencastre spoke to reporters at the national palace following a cabinet meeting, [4] noting that the agenda for June's presidential summit is expected to cover 29 issues including the potential beef trade with China. [5]
On June 5, 2024, the plenary session of the Congress of the Republic of Peru approved Draft Legislative Resolution 8019 that authorizes the departure of President Dina Boluarte to China. [6]
Boluarte is scheduled to meet with executives from Chinese telecoms giant Huawei, electric carmaker BYD, port services provider COSCO Shipping Ports, Jinzhao Mining and China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC). [7] In January 2019, COSCO Shipping Group acquired a 60% stake in Puerto Chancay, and the project entered the construction phase after the official delivery. [8] Puerto Chancay is scheduled to open at the end of 2024, when Peru will host the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. [9] [10]
On June 24, Foreign Ministry of China spokeswoman Hua Chunying announced that at the invitation of President and Chinese Communist Party general secretary Xi Jinping, President of the Republic of Peru Dina Hercilia Boruarte Zegara will pay a state visit to China from June 25th to 29th. [11] [12]
On the evening of the 25th, President Boluarte arrived at Futian Station in Shenzhen from Hong Kong's West Kowloon Station by high-speed rail. [13] In Shenzhen, Dina Boluarte visited Huawei and BYD Auto. [14] [15] [16] Meanwhiles, Huawei signs deal to train thousands of Peruvians in new technology. [17] [18] In Shenzhen she also led a delegation to visit the Nanshan Museum, [19] and held talks with executives of China Electronics Corp. [20]
On June 26th, President Boluarte arrived in Shanghai. [21] On June 27, the President of Peru gave a keynote speech at the "Peru Investment Opportunities" forum held in Shanghai, inviting entrepreneurs to invest in Peru. [22] [23] She also held a meeting with executives from China Southern Power Grid. [24]
On June 27, Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), met with Peruvian President Boruarte in Suzhou. [25] The president expressed his hope to draw on Jiangsu's useful experience in cultural heritage protection, park construction, scientific and technological innovation, digital empowerment, etc., and to promote new achievements with cooperation. [26] She also visited to Suzhou Industrial Park and Higer, an electric bus manufacturing company. [24] [27]
On the afternoon of June 28, Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with Peruvian President Peru Boruarte, who came to China for a state visit. [28] After the talks, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of the Joint Action Plan of the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Peru for the period from 2024 to 2029, as well as a number of bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of economic and trade cooperation, digital economy, scientific and technological innovation, inspection and quarantine, and news media. The two sides announced the substantive completion of negotiations on the upgrading of the free trade agreement. [29] The two countries also announced the official conclusion of negotiations on upgrading their free-trade agreement, a process started in 2018. [3] [1]
In the afternoon of the same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with President Boruarte at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, respectively. [30] [31]
The 2022 China-Arab States Summit was the 1st summit of the heads of state and representatives of 21 countries of the Arab League, and the head of state of the People's Republic of China. It was held on 9 December 2022, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
On 20–22 March 2023, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese president, visited Russia, in his first international meeting since his re-election as president during the 2023 National People's Congress.
The 2023 France–China summit was a three-day state visit by Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, to China from April 5 to 7, 2023. It was Macron's first visit to China since the COVID-19 pandemic and his third since taking office in 2017. He was accompanied by a delegation of more than 50 CEOs and met with members of the French business community in China. He also met with Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President of China, and Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, to discuss various issues. By recalling the solid foundation of China-France relations and the friendship between the two peoples, the two heads of state had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations, China-EU relations and major international and regional issues, especially the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine and China's potential role as a mediator between Russia and the West. The visit was seen as an attempt to "reconnect" with China after three years of its zero-Covid policy and despite Beijing's increasing benevolence to Russia in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
China-Central Asia Summit is a diplomatic summit held by the leaders of the People's Republic of China and the five Central Asian countries. The first China-Central Asia Summit was held at the Xi'an International Conference Center in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province from May 18 to 19, 2023. Xi Jinping, the paramount leader of China, presided over the summit, and the heads of state of the five Central Asian countries attended the summit.
From May 28 to May 31, 2024, the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) visited South Korea and China for the first time as UAE Head of State.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, King Hamad of Bahrain paid a state visit to China from May 28 to June 1 and attended the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Tunisian President Kais Saied paid a state visit to China from May 28 to June 1, 2024, and attended the opening ceremony of the tenth Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.
At the invitation of President Johannes Rau of the Federal Republic of Germany, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, Leader of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, President Olusegun Obasanjo of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Ben Ali of the Republic of Tunisia, President Seyed Mohammad Khatami of the Islamic Republic of Iran, President Jiang Zemin pays a state visit to these five countries from April 8 to 22, 2002. During the visit, China signed a number of cooperation documents with the three countries, covering a wide range of areas such as trade and economy, culture, agriculture, science and technology, education, oil and gas, telecommunications and transportation.
At the invitation of Premier of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif paid an official visit to China from 4 to 8 June 2024.
From September 14 to 16, 2022, Chinese President Xi Jinping attends the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Samarkand, and pay state visits to the Republic of Kazakhstan and Uzberkistan at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tokaev and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev.
