President of China and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping visited Lima, Peru, at the request of President of Peru Dina Boluarte, to participate in the 31st Informal Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders' Meeting and conduct a state visit from November 13 to 17, 2024. [1] [2] At the behest of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the Federative Republic of Brazil, President Xi also paid a visit to Rio de Janeiro from November 17 to 21 to participate in the 2024 G20 Rio de Janeiro summit and conduct a state visit to Brazil. President Xi's initial agenda in Peru is the inauguration of Chancay Mega-port, a $1.3 billion megaport, [5] which will prominently showcase China's regional power. [6] Total investment is projected to exceed $3.5 billion during the forthcoming decade. [7] [8]
On November 14, President Xi Jinping engaged in discussions with Peruvian President Boruarte at the presidential palace in Lima. Subsequent to the discussions, the two leaders observed the signing of the “Cooperation Plan between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Peru on Jointly Building the ‘Belt and Road’” and the “Protocol on Upgrading the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Peru,” along with the exchange of several bilateral cooperation documents pertaining to economics, trade, industry and investment, industrial parks, education, and green development. [9] The two parties released the Joint Declaration of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Peru for the enhancement of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. [10]
In the evening, President Xi and President Boruarte participated in the virtual inauguration of Chancay Port from the Presidential Palace in Lima. Xi and Boruarte received briefings from the leaders of the transportation agencies of both nations and viewed a video regarding the Chancay Port initiative, subsequent to the issuance of the directive by the two chiefs of state to commence port operations. On the morning of November 15, President Xi conducted separate meetings with Prime Minister of Thailand Paetongtarn Shinawatra, [14] Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong, [15] and President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol during the APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting in Lima. [16] In the afternoon, President Xi convened with President of Chile Gabriel Boric, [17] Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Luxon, [18] and Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Ishiba. [19]

President Xi arrived at Galeão International Airport [23] in Rio de Janeiro on the November 17 to participate in the G20 leaders and to conduct a state visit to Brazil. [24] [25]
On the morning of November 18, President Xi convened with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese during the G20 Leaders Summit in Rio de Janeiro. [30] On the morning of November 19, 2024, President Xi met with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, [31] French President Emmanuel Macron, [32] President of Bolivia Luis Arce, [33] and President of Argentina Javier Milei. He thereafter went to Brasília on November 20 for a state visit extended by Lula, during which announcements about Brazilian exports to China and Chinese investments in urban transportation, aviation, and electric vehicles are anticipated. [36] During this visit, about 40 international agreements were established in sectors including trade, agriculture, industry, investment, research and technology, communications, health, energy, culture, education, and tourism. The 2023 France–China summit was a three-day state visit by Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, to China from April 5 to 7, 2023. The visit was seen as an attempt to "reconnect" with China after three years of its zero-Covid policy and despite Beijing's increasing benevolence to Russia in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
The 2023 Brazil–China summit was a four-day state visit by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil, to China from 11 to 14 April 2023. It was Lula's first visit to China since his third taking office in January 2023. He was accompanied by a delegation of more than 240 CEOs, politicians and government officials and met with the Brazilian business community in China. He also met with Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President of China, to discuss various issues, especially the ongoing war in Ukraine and Brazil–China's potential roles as a mediators between Russia and the West.
The 2024 BRICS summit was the sixteenth annual BRICS summit, held in Kazan, Russia. It was the first BRICS summit to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates as members, following their accession to the organization at the 15th BRICS summit.

At the invitation of President Johannes Rau of the Federal Republic of Germany, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, Leader of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, President Olusegun Obasanjo of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Ben Ali of the Republic of Tunisia, President Seyed Mohammad Khatami of the Islamic Republic of Iran, President Jiang Zemin paid a state visit to these five countries from April 8 to 22, 2002. President of Peru Dina Boluarte pays a state visit to China to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during June 25, 2024 to June 29, 2024. The Port ofChancay is a shipping terminal located in Chancay, Peru. It was built by Chinese state-owned shipping and logistics company COSCO Shipping in association with the Peruvian company Volcan. The port is part of the Belt and Road Initiative; and according to Peruvian law, it is considered a private port for public use, granting the operator exclusivity to provide port services.
From July 2 to 6, 2024, Chinese President and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping will attend the 2024 SCO summit in Astana and pay state visits to the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tajikistan.

At the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyễn Phú Trọng and President of Vietnam Võ Văn Thưởng, Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President of China, paid a state visit to Vietnam during December 12-13, 2023. The two sides agreed to issue the Joint Declaration on Further Deepening and Upgrading the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Building a Strategic Community of Destiny between China and Vietnam.
At the invitation of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Trần Đại Quang, President of China and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping went to Da Nang, Vietnam, from November 10–11, 2017, to attend the APEC Vietnam 2017. Then, General Secretary Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Vietnam and the Laos from November 12–14, 2017. This is the first state visit by the top leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and State after the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.
