Summer Solstice: Bee Stings is part two of the four part Seasons collective created by Coil.
The 7" was limited to 1300 copies on honey yellow vinyl and 50 copies on green vinyl. the CD version was unlimited, but deleted on autumn equinox 1998, when the third part of the series was released. On summer solstice 2001 a second CD edition was released and this was limited to 400 copies.
This album was re-released on Moons Milk (In Four Phases) . This album will again be re-released on Moon's Milk In Six Phases.
A remix of "Glowworms/Waveforms" entitled "Glowworms/Waveforms - Obsidian Monarch (Full Version)" by Thread appeared on the CD compilation Otology: The Brainwashed 7" Singles Compiled.
Side A is meant to be played at 45 rpm while side B is meant to be played at 33½ rpm.

Coil were an English experimental music group formed in 1982 in London and dissolved in 2005. Initially envisioned as a solo project by musician John Balance, Coil evolved into a full-time project with the addition of his partner and Psychic TV bandmate Peter Christopherson, formerly of pioneering industrial music group Throbbing Gristle. Coil's work explored themes related to the occult, sexuality, alchemy, and drugs while influencing genres such as gothic rock, neofolk and dark ambient. AllMusic called the group "one of the most beloved, mythologized groups to emerge from the British post-industrial scene."
Spring Equinox: Moon's Milk or Under an Unquiet Skull is part one of the four part Seasons collective created by Coil.
Autumn Equinox: Amethyst Deceivers is part three of the four part Seasons collective created by Coil.
Winter Solstice: North is the final release of the four part seasons collective created by Coil. Vocalists Rose McDowall and Robert Lee contribute to the song "Christmas Is Now Drawing Near", a traditional Catholic song. The song features Rosa Mundi.
Musick to Play in the Dark Vol. 1 is a studio album by Coil that was released in September 1999. It is the first album in the Musick to Play in the Dark series, with the second volume being released in 2000. It was remastered by Drew McDowall and reissued by Dais Records in 2020.
Musick to Play in the Dark Vol. 2 is a studio album by Coil that was released in September 2000. It was the second of two albums attributed purely to a style called "moon musick," which signify their change from a "solar" group to a "moon" group. Musick to Play in the Dark Vol. 1 was the first installment.
Gold Is the Metal was the third album released by Coil, in the year 1987. It is not a proper follow-up to 1986's Horse Rotorvator, but more a collection of outtakes and demos from the Scatology, Horse Rotorvator and Hellraiser soundtrack sessions. Some obviously correspond to earlier and later released material, while others do not appear anywhere else. "The Last Rites of Spring" includes a sample by Stravinsky, also used extensively in "The Anal Staircase".
Wrong Eye/Scope is a 7" vinyl single by Coil released by the record company Shock.
The Restitution of Decayed Intelligence is a 10" vinyl by Coil which heavily references samples from The Remote Viewer.
Moon's Milk Bonus Disc is a semi-official name for an edition of Coil CD-Rs released in conjunction with Moon's Milk .
Moon's Milk is a release by Coil that compiles four of their singles onto a double CD. The two disc album compiles the CD versions of Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice. The album also has a live version of "Amethyst Deceivers" hidden at the end of the first disc, following several minutes of silence after "A Warning From The Sun ". This recording of "Amethyst Deceivers" was later released on Live Two, although the Moon's Milk version is a slightly longer edit. The release was given the catalog number ESKATON 023 and features artwork by Steven Stapleton.
Live Four was a compilation CD of live Coil songs. This CD was the first of four releases in a series. Its counterparts are Live Three, Live Two and Live One. This album was later released as part of Coil's box set The Key to Joy Is Disobedience.
Worship the Glitch is the only full-length album to be released by "ELpH vs. Coil", though an EP called Born Again Pagans is credited to "Coil vs. ELpH". ELpH is the name that Coil used to describe the random musical compositions that were generated from their own equipment, either by itself or as an unintended yet pleasant byproduct of their own work; as a result, this album can essentially count as a Coil album.
A Thousand Lights in a Darkened Room is the only release by Black Light District, an alias for English experimental group Coil. The alias was one of a few assumed by them in the mid-nineties for releasing purely experimental music.

Nightmare Culture is a 12" split vinyl EP by Current 93 and Sickness of Snakes, which was John Balance and Peter Christopherson from Coil and Boyd Rice.
Drew McDowall is a Scottish musician who has been a member, collaborator, and remixer for various influential music groups. McDowall was formerly a full-time member of Coil.

Rosa Mundi was the name of a very short-lived electronic music supergroup which consisted of Rose McDowall, John Balance and possibly Peter Christopherson. The group is credited for "The Snow Man" which appeared on the compilations The Final Solstice and The Final Solstice II and the split 7-inch vinyl Grief. It is also credited on the song "Christmas Is Now Drawing Near" from the Coil single Winter Solstice: North, later released on Moons Milk . Since both songs, "The Snow Man" and "Christmas Is Now Drawing Near", were originally released in 1999, it can be said that this is the only year the group functioned.
The New Backwards is an album by Coil released on 18 April 2008. The album is reworked from the Backwards demo, which was originally created for Nothing Records.
