Sungai Akar (Malay : Kampung Sungai Akar, also Kampong Sungai Akar) is a neighbourhood in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei.^[1] It is also a village subdivision under Berakas B, a mukim of Brunei-Muara District. The postcode for Sungai Akar is BC4115.^[2]

Malay is an Austronesian language spoken in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, as well as parts of Thailand. A language of the Malays, it is spoken by 290 million people across the Strait of Malacca, including the coasts of the Malay Peninsula of Malaysia and the eastern coast of Sumatra in Indonesia and has been established as a native language of part of western coastal Sarawak and West Kalimantan in Borneo. It is also used as a trading language in the southern Philippines, including the southern parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula, the Sulu Archipelago and the southern predominantly Muslim-inhabited municipalities of Bataraza and Balabac in Palawan.

Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital city of the Sultanate of Brunei. It is officially governed as a municipality. Bandar Seri Begawan has an estimated population of 100,700, and including the whole Brunei-Muara District, the metro area has an estimated population of 279,924.

Sungai Akar is officially known in Malay as Kampung Sungai Akar (Kampung is sometimes spelt as Kampong),^[2] which literally means 'Sungai Akar Village'.
