Swan 48 is a GRP constructed, fin keeled, masthead sloop or yawl designed by Sparkman & Stephens with a design number 2079 and manufactured by Nautor Oy. [1] [2] [3] [4] The original 48 was designed to rate under the I.O.R. and at the same time to offer the comforts of a great cruising boat. [5] [6] Because of this design criteria and its extremely strong structure Swan 48 suits very well for trans ocean racing as well as comfortable cruising and even circumnavigating the world. It was in production between 1971 and 1975 with 46 hulls built in total. It is not to be confused with a German Frers designed Swan 48 model which was in production between 1995 and 2003. [7] The original S&S designed Swan 48 is famous for its two wins in the Newport-Bermuda Race; 'Noryema VIII' in 1972 (the first non-US yacht ever to win the Bermuda Race) [8] [9] [10] [11] and 'Constellation' in 1992. [12] [13] [14] [15] In the US market Swan 48 was also marketed as Palmer Johnson PJ48. [16]

Oy Nautor AB is a Finnish producer of luxury sailing yachts, based in Jakobstad. It is known for its Nautor's Swan range of yachts models. The company was founded in 1966 by Pekka Koskenkylä.
C&C Yachts was a builder of high-performance fiberglass monohull sailboats with production facilities in Canada, Germany, and the United States. C&C designed and constructed a full range of production line cruiser-racer boats, as well as custom one-off and short production run racing and cruising boats. C&C boats ranged in size from as small as 21 ft (6.4 m) to as large as 67 ft (20.4 m). C&C also produced a line of bluewater cruising boats in the 35 ft (10.7 m) to 48 ft (14.6 m) range under its Landfall brand. In addition, C&C designed sailboats for production by a number of other manufacturers such as CS Yachts, Mirage Yachts, Northern Yachts, Ontario Yachts, Paceship Yachts, and Tanzer Industries.
Germán Frers Sr. is Argentinian a naval architect known for designing racing yachts. He designed his first yacht in 1958 and has been involved in the design of more than 1000 yachts, including Kialoa V and Hyperion, which, when launched in 1997 was the largest sloop ever made.

Swan 36 is a fin keeled, fiberglass constructed masthead sloop first manufactured by Nautor's Swan in 1967. The first Swan sailing yacht ever produced by the firm, it was designed to serve recreationally but also compete in the One Ton Cup.
The Swan 65 is a large fibreglass fin+keeled masthead ketch- or sloop-rigged sailing yacht design, manufactured by Nautor's Swan. It was introduced as the new flagship of Nautor in 1973. At the time of its launch it was the largest glass reinforced plastic (GRP) constructed yacht in the market and because of its excellent racing history, one of the most famous Swan models ever built. The first 65-footers were delivered to owners in 1973, and the production continued until 1989 with 41 hulls built in total.
Swan 37 is a GRP constructed, fin keeled, one tonner masthead sloop and successor to the Swan 36. It was designed by Sparkman & Stephens and manufactured by Nautor Oy between 1970 and 1974 with total of 59 boats being built. Sparkman & Stephens designed the Americas Cup winner Intrepid with a trim tab on the trailing edge of the keel. S&S used the same trim tab on at least some of the early Swan 37s. Measured by racing success, Swan 37 is one of the most successful Swan yachts ever built and it is famous for winning the Round Gotland Race on six occasions in four decades by a yacht called Tarantella II. At least two Swan 37 boats Dulcinea and Trishna are known to have circumnavigated the world. As part of that circumnavigation, Dulcinea participated in the Cape to Rio race in 1976. She is still actively sailed under the same name in the US. In the US market Swan 37 was also marketed as Palmer Johnson 37.

The C&C 37/40 is a Canadian 12.05 metres (39.5 ft) LOA fibreglass monohull sailing yacht, designed in 1988 by Robert W. Ball of Cuthbertson & Cassian as a replacement for the earlier C&C 37 dating from 1981. The C&C 37/40 is a recreational keelboat of moderate displacement, intended as a cruiser/racer or oceangoing racer. The yachts have a masthead sloop rig, with a fin keel and an internally-mounted spade-type rudder. Over 110 of the 37/40 type were built before the Canadian plant closed in 1994. The design is no longer produced.
