The Swiss Men's Volleyball Ligue 1 is a men's volleyball competition organized by the Swiss Volleyball Federation (Swiss Volley), it was created in 1957. [1]
In the 2020/21 championship, 8 teams played in the League A: Lindaren ( Amriswil ), Chenois Geneva ( Geneva ), Schönenwerd, Lausanne, Nefels, Yona, Basel, Lindaren ( Lucerne ). Champion title was won by "Chenoit Geneva", who won in the final series beating up "Lindaren" (Amriswil) 3-1 (3: 2, 0: 3, 3: 1, 3: 0). 3rd place was taken by "Schönenwerd".
The National League (NL) is a professional ice hockey league in Switzerland and is the top tier of the Swiss league system. Prior to the 2017–18 season, the league was known as National League A. During the 2018–19 season, the league had an average of 6,949 spectators per game which is the highest among European leagues. The capital city's club SC Bern has been ranked first of all European clubs for 18 seasons and had an average attendance of 16,290 after the regular season. The ZSC Lions are another club in the top ten of European ice hockey attendance, ranking seventh with 9,694 spectators.
Volero Zürich is a Swiss volleyball club based in Zürich. It has many teams with the women's team being the most successful and currently playing in the National League A. Since the mid 2000s, the club has also frequently participated in European competitions, most notably the CEV Women's Champions League. In 2018 the elite women's team joined Entente sportive Le Cannet-Rocheville, forming Volero Le Cannet, a team located in Le Cannet, France.

Nehemiah Mote is an Australian volleyball player. Nehemiah was offered an AIS scholarship in 2013 after a three-month trial, and represented NSW at the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships. He was selected to represent Australia for the first time in the Under 23's Junior World Championships in Brazil. He previously played for TV Bühl and Berlin Recycling Volleys in Germany and Volley Amriswil in Switzerland. Mote currently plays for VfB Friedrichshafen.
Carlos Guerra is a Mexican male volleyball player. He was part of the Mexico men's national volleyball team at the 2010 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in Italy, at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in Poland and at the Volleyball at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. He currently plays for Volero Aarberg.
Paul Sanderson is an Australian male volleyball player. He is part of the Australia men's national volleyball team. On club level he plays for CS Arcada Galați in Romania.
Luka Babić is a Montenegrin male volleyball player. An all-rounder, playing as middle blocker and outside hitter, he played with OK Budućnost Podgorica until 2015, after which he spent a season with Budvanska Rivijera Budva, the national champions. He signed for Swiss team Chênois Genève for the 2016/17 season.
Lauren Bertolacci is an Australian volleyball coach. She currently coaches Viteos NUC in the LNA in Switzerland. She also serves as the head coach for the Swiss Women's National Team. Prior to that she coached Volley Luzern Men's Team in the NLA, the top division in Switzerland.

Nina Betschart is a Swiss professional beach volleyball player who plays as a right side defender with her partner Tanja Hüberli. She is a two-time European Champion, winning the title in 2021 and 2023, and the silver medallist at the 2018 and 2022 European Championships. With her former partner Nicole Eiholzer, she won the gold medal at the first ever European Games in 2015. Alongside Hüberli, Betschart has won combined total of 1 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals on FIVB World Tour and its successor Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. Betschart / Hüberli team represented Switzerland at the 2020 Summer Olympics where they finished in ninth place and played a pivotal role at their country's triumph in the women's event of the inaugural CEV Beach Volleyball Nations Cup in 2022. They achieved a career-high World ranking of No. 2 in November 2021.

The 2023 Men's European Volleyball Championship was the 33rd edition of the Men's European Volleyball Championship, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, CEV. For the third time, the championship was held in four countries: Italy, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Israel. The top three teams of the tournament qualified for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship as the CEV representatives, except Italy who had already qualified as the defending world champions.
