Marko Klok is a volleyball player from the Netherlands who represented his native country in two Summer Olympics, starting in 1992 in Barcelona, Spain. There he won the silver medal as a part of the Dutch Men's National Team, and later took ninth at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. He played a total of 378 international matches for the Dutch volleyball team.

The Vrouwen Eredivisie, also known as the Azerion Eredivisie Vrouwen due to a three-year sponsor contract beginning in the 2022–2023 season, is the highest women's football league in the Netherlands. Organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), it was established in 2007 as a professional league and played for five seasons until 2012, when the leagues of the Netherlands and Belgium merged forming a single combined league. The BeNe League folded after three seasons, and the Eredivisie was restarted in the 2015–16 season. The top two teams receive a spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Talent Team Papendal (TTPA) is a Dutch volleyball club based in Arnhem. It has men's and women's teams, both playing in the Eredivisie (highest league in the Netherlands).

VV Alterno is a Dutch volleyball club based in Apeldoorn. It has professional and amateur teams with the women's team being the most successful and currently playing in the Eredivisie Dames, the highest level in the Netherlands.

The 2018–19 Eredivisie was the 63rd season of the Eredivisie since its establishment in 1955. The season began on 10 August 2018 and concluded on 15 May 2019; the Europa League and relegation play-offs will take place later that month. PSV were the defending champions. Emmen, De Graafschap and Fortuna Sittard joined as the promoted clubs from the 2017–18 Eerste Divisie. They replaced Sparta Rotterdam, Twente and Roda JC who were relegated to the 2018–19 Eerste Divisie.

The Netherlands men's national under-21 volleyball team represents the Netherlands in international men's volleyball competitions and friendly matches under the age of 21 and it is ruled by the Dutch Volleyball Association body that is an affiliate of the Federation of International Volleyball FIVB and also part of the European Volleyball Confederation CEV.

The 2019–20 season was AZ Alkmaar's 53rd season in existence and the club's 22nd consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. It covered a period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. AZ Alkmaar competed in the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup and the UEFA Europa League.

In the 2019–20 season, FC Groningen played in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch professional football, as well as the KNVB Cup.

During the 2019–20 season, SC Heerenveen participated in the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Eredivisie season was abandoned with Heerenveen in 10th place. They were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup, losing 1–0 at home to Feyenoord.

The Netherlands Women's Volleyball Eredevisie is the major volleyball competition, disputed in the Netherlands since 1947. It is organized by the Dutch Volleyball Federation .

The 2020–21 season was PSV Eindhoven's 108th season in existence and the club's 65th consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. In addition to the domestic league, PSV participated in this season's edition of the KNVB Cup and also participated in the UEFA Europa League. The season covers the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021.
