The Swiss Women's Basketball Championship, or SB League Women, is the highest tier level of women's professional club basketball competition in Switzerland. Currently the SB League Women is granted one spot in the FIBA Eurocup.

History

The 2019–20 season ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic in Switzerland and in March 2020 the Swiss Basketball Executive Committee announced that no team would be awarded the national championship title. [1]

Giancarlo Primo was an Italian professional basketball player and coach. He was a coach of the FIBA European Selection team in 1974, 1975, and 1976. In 2001, he was awarded the FIBA Order of Merit. In 2007, he was enshrined into the FIBA Hall of Fame, and in 2008, he was inducted into the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame.

The winners of the SBL are crowned Swiss national basketball champions. Currently, twelve teams compete in the league. Historically, Fribourg Olympic is the league's most successful team, as it has won a league-record 19 championships. Until 2017, the league was known as the Championnat LNA.

He won 84 caps for the German men's national team, competing in the 2008 Olympic Games, the 2010 World Championships as well as the European Championships in 2009 and 2011. Swiss Basketball is the governing sports body of the top-tier level professional basketball leagues in Switzerland. Established in 1929, the organization has its headquarters in Fribourg. Swiss Basketball also manages the Swiss national teams, the Swiss Federation Cup, and the Swiss Youth Championships. Swiss Basketball currently has more than 17,000 members, from its nine regional associations, comprising 185 clubs.
