The film stars Prabhas and Kajal Aggarwal. The music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. It turned out to be a Blockbuster at the box-office and became the second highest grossing telugu movie of all time at that time. It was also the highest grossing Telugu movie of 2010. The film established Prabhas’s career and became his breakthrough role.

Production began on 31 July 2015 in Hyderabad. The film was released on 13 August 2016. The film received negative reviews from critics, but they praised and appreciated Tej's performance. However, they criticized the direction, storyline, irrational and confusing screenplay and the incoherent script. The film was a box office bomb. Mannara Chopra won Special Jury Award for Best Actress at 15th Santosham Film Awards.
